Intel Arrow Lake Refresh Expected to Launch in Late 2025 with Improved Performance Features

Intel is set to unveil the refreshed Arrow Lake processors later this year, promising enhancements in clock speeds and Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capabilities, specifically with the anticipated introduction of NPU4.

Arrow Lake Refresh Expected to Launch with NPU4 for Enhanced AI Performance

The highly anticipated Arrow Lake Refresh is rumored to debut in the second half of 2025, though Intel has yet to officially confirm this timeline. In line with earlier reports, these new desktop chips are expected to provide marginally improved performance compared to their predecessors.

According to ZDNET Korea, the exact release date remains undisclosed; however, as Intel gears up for the Nova Lake S launch in 2026, the Arrow Lake Refresh is projected to arrive by the year’s end. Anticipated enhancements include a modest increase in core clock speeds, consistent with trends seen in previous refresh models.

While significant performance leaps over current Arrow Lake processors may not be in the cards, improvements in AI performance are expected to position these new chips competitively. Notably, the existing Core Ultra 200S lineup achieves a maximum of 13 NPU TOPS, which falls short of the requirements for Copilot+ certification. The upcoming line is reported to incorporate NPU4 technology, similar to that found in the newer Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V processors.

With the introduction of NPU4, the Arrow Lake Refresh is anticipated to reach up to 48 NPU TOPS, qualifying it for Copilot+ certification. However, it remains uncertain whether Intel will also improve aspects such as integrated graphics and memory compatibility in this refresh. Early speculations suggested significant performance gains based on the enhancements seen in the Raptor Lake Refresh series, which provided approximately 14% better single-core performance.

Nevertheless, reports suggest that these expectations may not hold for the Arrow Lake Refresh. If these claims prove accurate, it is unlikely that this new lineup will surpass the Ryzen 9000 series, particularly the 9000X3D models.
