Intel has officially introduced the Limited Edition of its Arc B580 GPU to retail markets. However, the immense consumer interest has made it challenging for potential buyers to secure a unit.
High Demand Leads to Quick Stock Out of Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition GPU
In a recent announcement, Intel launched its inaugural Battlemage GPU, deploying the advanced Xe2 architecture for retail distribution. As it stands, the Limited Edition is the only model currently available, with AIB (Add-In Board) variants set to be released tomorrow.
Among the earliest retailers to feature the Intel Arc B580 12 GB was Newegg, listing the card for the official manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $249.99. It’s worth noting that while this is the pricing for the Limited Edition, AIB models are expected to retail at higher prices. The Limited Edition boasts robust specifications, including 12 GB of GDDR6 VRAM on a 192-bit memory bus and 20 Xe2 cores. The core clock can reach 2670 MHz, with capabilities for overclocking, and it utilizes a single 8-pin power connector with a power consumption of up to 190W. In contrast, AIB editions may surpass the 200W threshold.
Currently, the GPU is out of stock, reflecting its high demand. This Limited Edition is particularly notable as it is not expected to be produced again once Intel discontinues it. Although Newegg has indicated that it will be restocking on January 3, 2025, buyers will need to wait about three weeks to purchase this GPU.
Amazon also mirrors this situation, with numerous GUNNIR-branded variants listed for pre-order, set for availability in early January. Meanwhile, retailers such as B&H and LDLC are only accepting pre-orders without any immediate stock.
The Limited Edition’s appeal is heightened by its scarcity, promising no further production once sales conclude. Contrarily, AIB models are expected to remain available after the Limited Edition sells out. Moreover, benchmarks indicate that the Intel Arc B580 excels in gaming performance, particularly at 1440p, outperforming rival models like the RTX 4060 and RX 7600 by a significant margin compared to 1080p results.
With a price point of $249 for a 12GB card from the latest generation, the Arc B580 stands out as a formidable competitor against older GPUs with similar VRAM specifications. Although minor driver issues persist, they do not appear to significantly hinder performance. For consumers seeking even more affordable options, the upcoming Arc B570, scheduled for release on December 16, is worth considering.
