Intel Arc B580 “Battlemage” GPU Benchmarks Reveal Performance: Surpasses RTX 4060 & RX 7600 XT in Vulkan Tests

The highly anticipated launch of Intel’s second-generation discrete GPU family, codenamed Battlemage, is imminent, and preliminary performance metrics have begun to emerge. These benchmarks present a glimpse of what users can expect, diverging from Intel’s promotional claims.

During a presentation last week, Intel highlighted a variety of benchmarks for the Arc B580 across several gaming titles, showcasing performance in both rasterization and ray tracing. However, for a more unbiased overview, we recommend awaiting independent tests, and the latest Geekbench figures provide valuable insights ahead of the official reviews set to release soon.

The benchmarking of the Intel Arc B580 was conducted on a system equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and 48 GB of DDR5-8400 memory. The GPU reportedly includes 20 Xe2 cores, achieving peak clock speeds of 2850 MHz. Additionally, certain enhanced models could push clock speeds above 3 GHz, especially with Intel’s overclocking capabilities, which promise an exciting spectrum of performance.

In the Vulkan API test, the Arc B580 achieved 103,445 points, surpassing the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT, which scored 99,643 points, and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 at 97,127 points. This positions the B580 ahead of its competitors by margins of 4% and 7%, respectively. While these differences may seem modest, the Arc B580’s competitive price of $259 suggests it could deliver greater value for consumers.

When looking at OpenCL performance, the Arc B580 remains competitive, aligning closely with those of rival GPUs. However, as OpenCL is generally recognized as an older API, it is not surprising that Intel is emphasizing more modern alternatives like DX12 and Vulkan. The real test will come from real-world gaming scenarios, and further assessments will be crucial in determining the true capabilities of the Battlemage series.
