Intel APO Windows 11 Gaming App Update: Support for 15 Additional Game Titles

Intel Enhances Application Optimization with New Game Support

Intel has recently launched an update to its Application Optimization (APO) system, introducing support for over 15 additional gaming titles. This move aims to enhance frame rates and enrich the overall gaming experience for users of Intel processors. Alongside this update, Intel provided performance metrics demonstrating the improvements seen in various games.

In a statement shared on Intel’s community blog, the company mentioned: “We’re rolling out a new wave of Intel APO game profiles. In our testing, games like Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition showed up to 14% higher FPS and up to 21% better 1% lows on games like Dyson Sphere Program when gaming on the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090.”This highlights the significant performance enhancements that players can expect.

Newly Supported Titles in Intel APO

The following games have been newly integrated into Intel’s APO support:

  • 7 Days to Die
  • Assetto Corsa
  • Cities: Skylines
  • Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
  • Dyson Sphere Program
  • EA Sports FC 24
  • God of War
  • Kerbal Space Program 2
  • Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
  • Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition
  • The Callisto Protocol
  • Wolfenstein Youngblood
  • World of Warships
  • The Beginning of Mount Shu (Shǔ Shān Chū Zhāng)

How Intel APO Works

Intel’s Application Optimization operates seamlessly in the background, optimizing how games utilize the various cores of modern Intel processors—specifically the Performance-cores and Efficient-cores. This technology is designed to enhance performance by dynamically allocating threads based on the real-time requirements of the game.

The benefits include improved thread scheduling, decreased thread contention, and reduced latency. These optimizations can significantly increase performance in titles like Dyson Sphere Program. However, it’s important to note that the effectiveness of the APO may vary based on different configurations and variations in CPU/GPU models.

Performance Metrics for Enhanced Gaming

Intel has shared specific metrics showing improvements in FPS and 1% lows for several titles tested on the Intel Core Ultra 9 285K in combination with the NVIDIA GeForce TTX 5090:

Intel Application Optimization FPS Performance
Intel Application Optimization 1% Lows Performance

Broad Processor Support and Updates

Currently, Intel APO supports a diverse range of 20 processors across both desktop and mobile platforms. It extends support to additional CPUs via Advanced Mode, accommodating 12th, 13th, and 14th generation Intel Core processors that feature six or more P-cores, even if they are not officially validated.

For those utilizing compatible processors with the latest versions of Dynamic Tuning Technology (DTT), BIOS, and chipset drivers, Intel APO updates are automatically implemented. Alternatively, users can download an optional app to tailor game-specific settings for optimized performance.
