The Intel Core 7 240H has demonstrated impressive performance, even outperforming its higher-core counterpart, the Core 7 250H, in Geekbench tests conducted both with and without a dedicated GPU. This raises intriguing questions about the potential of Intel’s latest offerings.

Intel’s 14th-Gen Processor Lineup Continues to Expand

As Intel progresses with its 14th-generation processors, the company is not only focusing on high-end desktop chips but is also preparing to unveil a new budget-oriented mobile series. Contrary to expectations, the upcoming lineup will not adopt the “Core i5/i7/i9 14000X”naming convention, but instead will feature a structure reminiscent of the Arrow Lake processors. The new series will retain the familiar nomenclature of “Core 5/7/9 200H,”omitting the “Ultra”tag to signal its affordability.

Benchmark Insights: Core 7 240H’s Performance Unveiled

Recent leaks, notably from @Benchleaks, reveal detailed benchmark results for the Core 7 240H. This 10-core CPU, part of the Acer Nitro ANV15-52 gaming laptop equipped with an RTX 4050 GPU, has shown remarkable performance metrics. Notably, it outstripped the 14-core Core 7 250H, achieving 2687 points in single-core and 13330 points in multi-core tests compared to the 250H’s 2415 and 13201 points, respectively.

Comparative Advantages Over the Arrow Lake Desktop Chips

Remarkably, the Core 7 240H’s scores surpass those of the desktop 10-core Core Ultra 5 225F processor, prompting potential reconsideration of its market value. The architecture of the Core 7 240H consists of two core clusters, including 6 Performance cores and 4 Efficient cores, with a base frequency of 2.5 GHz and a maximum boost clock reaching 5.0 GHz. Additionally, it incorporates an L3 cache of 24 MB, matching that of the Core 7 250H.

Integrated Graphics Performance

The iGPU integrated within the Core 7 240H is powered by Intel’s Xe architecture, equipped with 64 Compute Units, equivalent to 8 Xe Cores, and capable of reaching clock speeds of 1.5 GHz. The graphics performance, as measured in OpenCL tests, yielded scores of 13362 and 13478. While these results are notable, they pale in comparison to the performance of the dedicated RTX 4050, which achieved a score of 84369, underscoring the latter’s role in enhancing gaming experiences.

Upcoming Variants and Release Expectations

In addition to the Core 7 200H series, Intel will introduce the Core 200U lineup, tailored for ultra-low power systems. Although an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, the unveiling is anticipated at CES 2025, generating further excitement within the tech community.
