The Buzz Surrounding a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake Recently, speculation regarding a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake has escalated significantly. In mid-December, noted CAPCOM insider Dusk Golem announced that both Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are slated for remakes, with Code Veronica anticipated for release in 2027 and Resident Evil Zero following in 2028. Golem also hinted that an official announcement could come as early as 2026. Further substantiating these claims, renowned industry insider Nate the Hate, acclaimed for his accuracy and recently awarded ‘Leaker of the Year’ by Reddit’s GamingLeaksAndRumors community, confirmed via a post on X that development on the Code Veronica remake is indeed underway, with the target date set for the first half of 2027. Fans of the franchise may soon find themselves only a year or so away from experiencing this long-awaited remake. The positive reception of previous remakes, particularly RE2 and RE4, provides a strong foundation for future titles. Notably, the RE2 Remake ranks as CAPCOM’s third best-selling game ever with over 16.30 million units sold, following Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise. The RE4 Remake, launched in March 2023, has already sold around 11.10 million units, while the RE3 Remake has reached around 10.60 million units. CAPCOM confirmed their commitment to continuing remakes late in 2023. Fans have long yearned for a Resident Evil Code Veronica Remake, given the original game’s legacy as a former exclusive for SEGA’s Dreamcast. Although it eventually made its way to the PlayStation 2 and other platforms, it lacked the traction it deserved during its initial launch period. For newcomers eager to dive into this remake, Resident Evil Code Veronica is set three months after the events of Resident Evil 2. It follows the Redfield siblings, Claire and Chris, as they struggle for survival amidst a viral outbreak that engulfs a remote prison island located in the Southern Ocean, as well as an Antarctic research facility.
