Inside Out 2 Release on Disney+: Streaming Details Unveiled
The animated sequel from Disney and Pixar, Inside Out 2, has emerged as the top-grossing film of 2024. Following its theatrical debut in the United States on June 14, Inside Out 2 is now streaming on Disney+. This film continues the journey of Riley, now a teenager, as she navigates new and intricate emotions, expanding upon the beloved original from 2015.
Developed by creators Kelsey Mann and Meg Lefauve, with screenplay assistance from Dave Holstein, the film features Kensington Tallman providing the voice for Riley. The original cast members, including Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, Diane Lane, and Kyle McLachlan, reprise their roles as Joy, Anger, Sadness, Mom, and Dad. Newcomers include Tony Hale voicing Fear and Liza Lapira as Disgust.
Additionally, Maya Hawke joins the cast as the voice of a new emotion, Anxiety. Other fresh voices in the film include Adele Exarchopoulos, Ayo Edebiri, and Paul Walter Hauser.
Catch Inside Out 2 now available on Disney+
After a phenomenal theatrical performance in June, where it grossed over $652 million domestically and $1.6 billion globally, according to Box Office Mojo, Inside Out 2 made its initial appearance on digital platforms. It became available for premium video-on-demand purchases via services like Prime Video and iTunes on August 20.
Less than three months after its cinema release, Inside Out 2 premiered on Disney+ on September 25. To enjoy the movie, viewers need to be subscribers to Disney+.
As of October 17, Disney+ has raised the prices for most subscription tiers. The basic ad-supported plan is now priced at $9.99 per month, up from $7.99. For those who prefer an uninterrupted viewing experience of Inside Out 2 along with other Disney content, the updated ad-free plan costs $15.99 monthly. It’s worth noting that Disney+ does not provide a free trial for new users.
What is Inside Out 2 about?
The second chapter of this acclaimed animation dives into Riley’s coming-of-age journey. Inside Out 2 features Riley alongside her five foundational emotions—Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust—now as a teenager at the age of 13, embarking on the tumultuous journey of puberty and its accompanying emotions.
This installment unfolds during the summer as Riley prepares to enter high school and participates in a hockey camp, which proves to be a tough experience. Joining her core emotions at this critical time is Anxiety, depicted as an orange character with wide eyes and wild hair, leading to Riley feeling the pressure to conform to her peers at camp.
As Riley grapples with heightened feelings, more complex emotions such as Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui emerge alongside Anxiety, contributing to the chaos in her mind.
What’s new with Inside Out 2 on streaming?
The home release of this Pixar favorite features special bonus content and deleted scenes, including an alternative opening titled “Cold Open,”which showcases a now-teenaged Riley awkwardly performing an original song for a school audition.

Other bonus clips include “Pool Party,”where Riley struggles to fit in at an older teen’s pool gathering, and “Broken Joy,”featuring Joy’s attempts to navigate the emotions console. A selected scene titled “Puberty Park”captures Joy and other emotions evading mind worker cops, while “Shame Spiral”depicts Riley and her friends going too far during a game of “Never Have I Ever.”
