Earlier this month, Microsoft announced it was winding down operations in Russia, impacting more than 400 laid-off employees. The move was followed by an earlier announcement by the company back in March that it was suspending sales of its new products in the country in protest of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
And, perhaps due to the intrusion, Microsoft also seems to have suspended the ability to download Windows 11 and Windows 10 ISO images in Russia, though the company hasn’t confirmed or confirmed anything officially.
Since this news is no more than a few days old at the moment, there are new reports that suggest that Windows Insiders cannot download new Insider Preview builds. And it is even possible that the entire mechanism of Windows Update may be blocked in Russia, regardless of whether you are an insider or not.
However, it looks like the VPN trick still works in this case, as it did with the ISO.
