Indiana Jones and the Great Circle update addresses Xbox lighting problems, DLSS glitches, and more

Patch Update for ‘Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’

Following a remarkably successful launch of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle last week, Bethesda and MachineGames are rolling out their inaugural post-launch update. This patch addresses numerous bugs that emerged during the single-player experience, and Xbox users will be particularly pleased with the resolution of several lighting issues.

Key Fixes in the Latest Update

Among the various improvements introduced in this update, the team has tackled several notable problems. These include the false alarm regarding save slot corruption, difficulties equipping Indy’s whip, and issues related to Nvidia DLSS that adversely affected game performance instead of enhancing it.

Improved Xbox Gameplay Experience

One significant aspect of this update is its focus on global illumination for Xbox players. The correction targets instances where certain environments appeared excessively illuminated, ensuring that gamers enjoy a more authentic visual experience while navigating the game. Below is a detailed overview of additional bug fixes:

Comprehensive Bug Fixes

General Fixes

  • Resolved the issue where a user’s game slot was erroneously reported as corrupt or missing, despite no actual damage.

Gameplay Enhancements

  • Fixed the problem preventing players from equipping Indy’s whip.
  • Cured the issue of the camera remaining indefinitely equipped.
  • Addressed the bug where players could unintentionally drop their camera after quickly equipping it during item inspection.

Graphics Improvements

  • Resolved the “double vision”glitch that occurred when Indy nearly drowned; repeating the near-drowning helps reset this problem for players affected.
  • Implemented further tweaks to minimize frame duplication during cutscenes, reducing visual stuttering.
  • Note: The following contains minor story spoilers.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Gina from reaching the secret entrance to the Vatican Treasure Chamber, which hindered mission progression.
  • Corrected a timing bug making Gina prematurely pick the lock at the exit of the Vatican Treasure Chamber, causing players to potentially miss critical story moments.
  • Addressed a collision issue in Sukhothai’s Ziggurat, eliminating a hole in the floor that players could fall through.

Fixes for PC Users

  • Addressed performance issues caused by enabling Nvidia DLSS.
  • Corrected improper activation of Nvidia Frame Generation when HDR is enabled.
  • Fixed performance problems linked to Nvidia Low Latency Mode when used alongside Frame Generation.
  • Resolved the issue of global illumination being entirely disabled on graphics cards with insufficient VRAM.
  • Corrected overly bright lighting in indoor environments when using Medium or High quality Path Tracing (Full Ray Tracing).
  • Known Issue: Nvidia Frame Generation might need to be reactivated if HDR is enabled for the first time. Workaround: Disable and then re-enable DLSS.

Exclusive Xbox Fixes

  • Enhancements to Global Illumination on Xbox to correct areas where shadows appeared brighter than intended.

Looking Ahead

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is currently available for Xbox Series X|S and PC, as well as through Microsoft’s Xbox and PC Game Pass subscriptions. Additionally, a PlayStation 5 version is anticipated to launch in 2025.
