The Voice Contestant Austyn Stancil Dedicated His Performance to His Late Father
34-year-old Oakland resident Austyn dedicated his soulful performance to his late father, who passed away in 2023, as well as to his three daughters, stating, “They motivate me.”Before taking the stage, Austyn reflected on how his father taught him the values of manhood and fatherhood. He expressed a wish that his father could witness his performance.
Not only did he want to honor his father’s memory, but he also aspired to be a role model for his daughters.
“I gotta get a Chair turn,”Austyns noted.
Despite a slow start, the coaches eventually pressed their buttons one after another, while Austyn’s mother, Christine, and brother, CJ, cheered him on from the sidelines. Austyn revealed that classic music appreciation stemmed from his mother, who was a church director in Paola, Kansas. When she needed a soloist, she invited Austyn to step up, marking the beginning of his musical journey.
Impressed by Austyn’s audition, Michael expressed curiosity about the limits of his vocal capabilities. Michael commended Austyn for his smooth transitions between high and low notes. Meanwhile, Gwen remarked:
“You’re so good in each part of your voice. That made me turn. It’s technically great, but how do we find who you are? I think that’s something I could help you with if you were on Team Gwen.”
To win over Austyn, Reba flaunted her season 25 triumph, while Snoop Dogg brought his rhyming skills into play.
“Now that you’ve heard the rest, you can hear from the best. Nonetheless, you could be with the ‘S’ and have his [holding up the Death Row Records necklace] laying on your chest,”he said.
In the end, Gwen managed to persuade The Voice contestant to join Team Gwen, citing her extensive experience on the show over the past nine years. Although Snoop Dogg was disappointed to lose Austyn to Gwen, he remained optimistic about the possibility of stealing him in the future episodes.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 PM ET on NBC.
