Microsoft Revives PC Accessories with Incase Collaboration
In a significant turn of events for tech enthusiasts, Microsoft made headlines in April 2023 by announcing the discontinuation of its branded PC accessories, including keyboards, mice, headsets, and webcams. However, the company later reversed this decision and reintroduced its accessories through a partnership with Incase. Features of the New Compact Ergonomic Keyboard
The Compact Ergonomic Keyboard is designed with a split layout, incorporating a cushioned palm rest and tilted keys to promote a more natural and comfortable typing experience. It employs scissor switches, allowing for a key travel distance of just 1.3 mm. Additional functionalities include dedicated keys for emojis, muting, media control, and, notably, a key for invoking Copilot, the AI-powered assistant integrated into both Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Battery Life and Connectivity
According to Incase, the keyboard boasts an impressive battery life, lasting up to 36 months with just a pair of AAA batteries. It is tailored for compatibility with both Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. Users will appreciate the convenience of Bluetooth connectivity, allowing pairing with multiple devices. The keyboard supports three built-in profiles for seamless switching among different devices. However, it’s worth noting that the absence of a backlight may disappoint some users, especially given its price point of $119.99.
