IN PHOTOS: Brock Purdy recaps dreamy March wedding with wife Jenna Brandt
Brock Purdy got married last month, but he only recently shared details of his ceremony with his fandom.
The quarterback who was famously known as the 2022 Mr. Irrelevant and is now the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers tied the knot with his fiancee of eight months, Jenna Brandt, in March. The couple first crossed paths during their time at Iowa State and their wedding was held in a grand ceremony in Des Moines, Iowa. As reported by TMZ, the wedding was attended by 350 guests and required four rented buses to transport them to the venue.
He shared never-before-seen photos from the event on Monday:
Purdy is the most recent addition to the group of 49ers players who have gotten married. Other well-known members of this group are fullback Kyle Juszczyk, tight end George Kittle, and linebacker Fred Warner. Additionally, running back Christian McCaffrey is set to wed Olivia Culpo sometime this summer.
Brock Purdy’s Recent Marriage Sparks Talks of Contract Extension and Salary Increase
As Brock Purdy embarks on his new journey as a married man, he is met with a multitude of off-field duties. These include deciding on a location to build a home with his wife Jenna Brandt, preparing for parenthood, providing support for his parents and other relatives, and more. These responsibilities require a substantial increase in his income, both presently and in the long term.
It was announced on Monday that as part of the NFL’s yearly performance-based pay allocation, he received a bonus of around $740k, which made up approximately 75% of his salary for the 2023-24 season. With the 2024-25 season approaching, he is expected to have a cap hit of $1 million for the first time in his career, which is relatively low for a player at his position compared to his backups Josh Dobbs ($2.25 million) and Shane Buechele ($2.02 million).
According to San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York, Brock Purdy’s value is expected to significantly increase once he becomes eligible for an extension in 2025, which is the final year of his contract. York referred to this potential situation as a “good problem to have”during the team’s annual league meetings last week, reflecting Purdy’s remarkable achievements thus far.
“It’s what the market is. Brock is going to ask for something that no one has ever asked for before. I don’t know how many players are making over $40 million (annually) as a quarterback right now,”York said (via FOX Sports).
To provide context, there are currently twelve quarterbacks who earn an average of $40 million per year, one of whom is Patrick Mahomes, the three-time Super Bowl champion for the Kansas City Chiefs.
