As we approach 2025, the anticipation surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) steadily grows among enthusiasts. Numerous narratives have been officially confirmed, while countless others are being speculated. Fans who believed they had witnessed significant transformations in the MCU through series like Loki and films such as Deadpool and Wolverine are in for major revelations if even a fraction of the circulating rumors materialize.
One particularly intriguing rumor suggests that Chris Evans may reunite with Robert Downey Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday. If Evans does reprise his role, the method of his return remains uncertain. Many theories propose that, rather than returning as the familiar heroic Captain America, he could instead portray a malevolent version of the character. Comic book lore introduces an alternate universe where Steve Rogers, indoctrinated by Hydra, ultimately becomes an undercover agent working for this sinister organization.
Hydra-influenced Captain America
An Instagram account, known as arifnity_, has crafted a captivating piece of fan art that portrays what an alternate Steve Rogers in Hydra’s embrace might look like, complete with a full ensemble. The artwork also includes Robert Downey Jr.’s incarnation of Doctor Doom (without his iconic mask) along with a silhouette resembling The Maestro, a more ominous future variant of The Hulk.
The illustration showcases the three characters donned in matching green outfits. The depiction of Steve Rogers resembles his classic Captain America attire, but instead, it features a distinct green, black, and gold color scheme. His shield is transformed, now sporting a Hydra symbol in place of the star, and the color stripes reflect the new palette.
Moreover, Cap’s helmet has undergone a change; the traditional “A”for America is replaced by an “H”signifying Hydra. To complete the transformation, Rogers wears a face mask akin to the one Bucky Barnes sports in his Winter Soldier persona. In contrast, Downey Jr.’s character retains his recognizable green robes synonymous with Doctor Doom, showcasing his face to emphasize the dark reinterpretation of these beloved characters.
A subsequent slide from the same post exhibits an alternate version of the MCU’s Steve Rogers wearing an outfit similar in design but rendered in red and black. However, the green ensemble arguably has a more striking impact, as the red variant can appear hot pink from certain perspectives.
