“I’m going to his domain” – Jonathan Di Bella believes pressure is on him ahead of Prajanchai war in Lumpinee

According to ONE strawweight kickboxing world champion Jonathan Di Bella, he feels the pressure as he prepares to face Prajanchai PK Saenchai in a title fight in Thailand this week.

The match at ONE Friday Fights 58 on April 5 will see the Canadian-Italian fighter put his world title on the line against the reigning Muay Thai champion, resulting in an all-champion showdown. This will mark Di Bella’s second title defense since becoming world champion in October 2022.

During an interview with the South China Morning Post, the 27-year-old Quebec native expressed that he is feeling a lot of pressure going into the highly anticipated match. Not only does he have to face Prajanchai’s versatility as a fighter, but the event will also take place in the Thai champion’s home turf of Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

The Kickboxing standout from Team Di Bella stated:

“Technically I’m going to his domain. I’m going 20 hours across the world to his own town, so I’m going to his domain, really. But no, I think it’s an even fight because you know he has all the experience in boxing and Muay Thai and he has kickboxing experience. So I think he has a lot experience over me.”

Jonathan Di Bella became the world champion in October of last year when he defeated Chinese phenom Zhang Peimian by decision for the vacant strawweight kickboxing belt. He then successfully defended his title in October 2023 by defeating Australian-Thai challenger Danial Williams by unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Prajanchai has his sights set on becoming a two-sport ONE world champion, having already claimed the undisputed strawweight Muay Thai title in December. In the opening round of their unification fight, he delivered a knockout blow to former divisional champion Joseph Lasiri.
