Sarah Hyland, best known for her role in Modern Family, was replaced on Love Island USA by Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix. She first joined the dating show as a host in August 2022 on the Peacock network. According to People, on March 28, 2024, Sarah posted an Instagram story announcing her departure from the show.
Despite expressing her sadness at being unable to return as a host, Sarah Hyland also shared her hope for a summer filled with love for her fans. However, the former show host disclosed that she was informed of her replacement through a text message from management.
“Well, I just got a text. I’m disappointed the news had to break this way but it is in fact true that I will not be returning to the island this summer.”
In her Instagram story, Sarah elaborated on the main motive for her departure. She alluded to an upcoming “exciting project”that clashed with the filming schedule of Love Island USA.
Ariana Madix to Host Love Island USA in Place of Sarah Hyland
On Friday, March 29, 2024, Ariana Madix, a star on Bravo, shared a reel on her Instagram account, announcing her first time hosting. In the brief clip, Ariana expressed her excitement to “cause some chaos in paradise.”
“See you in the villa for an all-new season of @loveislandusa hosted by me!”
Ever since the “Scandoval”drama on Vanderpump Rules, Ariana Madix has shifted her attention towards her new career endeavors. This isn’t the initial instance of her appearance on Love Island USA. Back in July of 2023, the Dancing with the Stars alum was a host for a Mr. and Mrs. game on the show, in which the contestants competed to determine “who has truly made an effort to get acquainted with each other.”
Referencing the infidelity controversy on season 10 of Vanderpump Rules, Ariana Madix remarked:
“Take it from me, it’s important to know who you’re dating or sharing a bed with, and if they’re not the one for you, trust me, it’s better to find out sooner rather than later.”
After Ariana’s ex-boyfriend, Tom Sandoval, was caught cheating on her with his co-star, Rachel Leviss, their nine-year relationship came to an abrupt end. Following their tumultuous breakup, Ariana has since moved on and is now in a relationship with fitness instructor Daniel Wai.
Following this, the Love Island USA host has continued to stay occupied by focusing on the launch of her sandwich shop, Something About Her, alongside her fellow costar Katie Maloney. Additionally, she has successfully released her book Single AF Cocktails and is currently making her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in the hit musical Chicago.
On August 27, 2023, during a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Simon Thomas, the executive producer of the dating show, praised Sarah Hyland’s hosting abilities. However, she has chosen to keep her “exciting project”under wraps.
“She’s just such a natural and so likable and, you know, I think the Islanders all look up to her as well. So she’s been, she’s just a joy.”
Despite the anticipation for Sarah’s potential appearance, viewers can welcome Ariana Madix as the new host for Love Island USA until then.
The upcoming season is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2024. All past seasons of the reality dating series can be accessed on Peacock.
