Emerging K-pop girl group ILLIT has made headlines with their impressive achievement at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards, where they secured the prestigious title of “Best New Artist (K-pop).”This significant recognition marks their first major award in the United States and comes just under a year after their debut.

The awards ceremony unfolded on March 17 at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. ILLIT, comprising talented members YunAh, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha, began their journey with the debut album Super Real Me.
Historic Achievements in Music
Their lead single “Magnetic”has made a remarkable impact, being the first debut track from a K-pop group to chart on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100. This accomplishment not only sets a historic precedent for ILLIT but also showcases the growing influence of K-pop in the global music scene. The same track earned nominations for “K-Pop Song of the Year”and “K-Pop Dance Challenge”at the awards ceremony.

Succeeding their debut, ILLIT has consistently pushed boundaries within the music industry. Their follow-up mini-album, I’LL LIKE YOU, entered the Billboard 200 chart at No.94, marking their second consecutive chart appearance and further solidifying their place in K-pop history.

Origins and Formation
ILLIT was formed through the competitive reality show “R U Next?”, a venture between HYBE and JTBC that showcased various trainees vying for a spot in the final group lineup. The selection process involved audience votes and evaluations by industry professionals. Initially planned as a six-member group, ILLIT proceeded as a five-member ensemble after Youngseo’s departure prior to the official debut.
