The newly released DDR5 series from Colorful, particularly the iGame Shadow II, is demonstrating impressive performance capabilities, successfully achieving higher speeds with reduced latency. Notably, this memory kit reached a remarkable 9600 MT/s on the AM5 platform while maintaining optimal latency settings.
Outstanding Performance of Colorful iGame Shadow II DDR5: 9600 MT/s at CL30
The rising capabilities of the AMD AM5 platform are noteworthy, benefitting from innovations in memory technology and improved memory controllers in Ryzen 9000 series CPUs. The cutting-edge firmware tuning on associated motherboards further facilitates these advancements. Colorful’s latest memory lineup, the iGame Shadow II DDR5, launched recently, showcases its compatibility and efficiency with AMD’s premier gaming processors in the Ryzen 9000 series.

According to Colorful, the iGame Shadow II DDR5 module can achieve an astonishing 9600 MT/s speed in a dual-channel configuration on the AM5 platform. This performance is enabled by high-end processors such as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D, together with the ROG Crosshair X870E APEX motherboard, which is tailored for maximum memory overclocking and allows for dual DIMMs optimized for premium memory kits.
Utilizing the Colorful iGame Shadow II DDR5 kit (2 x 16 GB with a standard speed of 6400 MT/s), the system accomplished a staggering 9600 MT/s at a latency of just CL30 when paired with the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. While reaching 9600 MT/s is impressive, sustaining such speeds in a dual-channel configuration is more challenging. Colorful’s advances have brought the AM5 platform’s memory support on par with Intel’s LGA 1851, highlighting the importance of component selection and fine-tuning memory parameters for optimal performance.

In a secondary assessment, the memory was successfully pushed to 9200 MT/s. Utilizing the same UCLK (Memory Controller Clock) set to match MCLK / 2 (Memory Clock), the results yielded remarkable stability, as verified through RunMemtest Pro testing. Although this setup has slightly higher latency versus the 9600 MT/s configuration employing a 1:2 ratio, it offers a more sustainable performance for prolonged use.

In another test scenario, utilizing the Ryzen 9 9950X3D with the same advanced motherboard and memory kit, the setup reached commendable speeds of 7200 MT/s, with tight timing settings of CL24-37-32-38 at a 1:1 ratio (UCLK = MCLK).This configuration passed the RunMemTest Pro with flawless accuracy, ensuring its stability for demanding applications.
Additionally, Colorful presented results showcasing memory speeds of 8900 MT/s in dual-channel at CL34-47-47-47 while under a 1:1 ratio configuration.
