On October 23, 2024, Young Thug made a highly publicized court appearance, drawing significant attention across various social media platforms. The rapper is currently entangled in a legal battle resulting from RICO charges filed against him and 28 other individuals approximately two years ago, all linked to his label, YSL Records.
During this latest court visit, Young Thug was seen sporting a black hoodie emblazoned with the phrase:
“I Love Mariah.”
This phrase is indeed a nod to his girlfriend, the singer Mariah the Scientist, whose birthday falls on October 27. Known officially as Mariah Amani Buckles, she has released three notable projects, including her debut album, *Master*, which debuted in 2019.
Mariah has openly discussed her relationship with Young Thug on several occasions, notably during a September appearance on the podcast *Unapologetically Angel*. She mentioned that her frequent court visits felt akin to a long-distance relationship, sharing:
“Sometimes I fall asleep in there. I just go to breathe his air… I love my man, yes. I love him.”
The Shade Room highlighted a moment from Young Thug’s court appearance, featuring him in a T-shirt. Their Instagram followers promptly expressed their thoughts in the comments, with one user commenting:

While many celebrated the bond between Mariah the Scientist and Young Thug, others questioned the motives behind falling for someone who is incarcerated.

Mariah and Young Thug have been in a romantic relationship for approximately three years. To commemorate their anniversary on October 6, she planned to visit him in prison. Unfortunately, her attempts to connect with Thug online were thwarted when prison officials stated that the system was down.
Following this event, Mariah took to Instagram Live to express her frustrations, revealing that she had even brought a “Happy Anniversary”sign and Scotch Tape for the visit, which is a 30-minute journey from the city. She lamented:
“I done did all this sh*t and now I can’t see my man on my anniversary. It’s always some sh*t huh? That’s okay, that’s fine, I’ll try it again.”
During her interview on *Unapologetically Angel*, which took place on September 20, 2024, Mariah the Scientist opened up about the challenge of being apart from Young Thug due to his incarceration, stating:
“It’s hard… If somebody told me that a few months into my relationship my man would get locked up? He’s been locked up now for longer than we were together before his arrest.”
Young Thug’s legal proceedings began in November of last year, and as per the latest updates, the trial will recommence on Monday, following Judge Paige Reese Whitaker’s decision to adjourn the court on October 24, 2024.
