“iCloud Is No Longer Reliable” — Social Media Reacts to Federal Investigation of Lil Durk’s Associate Booking Flights with Rapper’s Linked Credit Card
NBC Chicago has acquired new documents indicating that rapper Lil Durk was preparing to travel to Italy right before his arrest. According to reports, he was taken into custody by federal authorities on Friday, October 25, 2024, shortly after five of his associates from the label OTF were apprehended.
The FBI disclosed that they received alerts from U.S. Customs and Border Protection indicating that Durk was booked on two international flights for Thursday, October 24, one departing from Miami to Dubai and the other from Fort Lauderdale to Switzerland. However, Lil Durk ultimately did not board either flight.
During this booking period, iCloud records purportedly revealed Durk instructing one of his OTF associates to refrain from reserving tickets in his name.
He later secured a place on a private jet heading from Miami to Italy just before his arrest in South Florida. Reports suggest he was detained “in the vicinity of the departing airport”about an hour prior to the flight’s scheduled departure. This series of events occurred just days after Durk’s performance at the United Center on Sunday, October 20.
Social media users took to X, previously known as Twitter, to express their thoughts and opinions regarding the unfolding situation.
One user commented:
“It’s over for him; well, he had a decent run in the spotlight 🤷🏿♂️.”
“How did they even access that iCloud information though 🤔🤔? I hope Apple addresses this soon,”added another user.
“He could argue that he was trying to distance himself,”pointed out another.
More reactions from netizens followed. A user tweeted:
“Yeah, he’s not getting out anytime soon.”
“He’s probably looking at 40 years at the minimum,”wrote another user.
“That dude is likely facing life, not just 40 years; get real 😭😭,”remarked a netizen.
Allegations Against Lil Durk Regarding a Bounty in 2022
NBC Chicago also obtained a criminal complaint accusing Lil Durk of allegedly placing a “monetary bounty”on a rival rapper referred to as TB in court documents. While TB was not harmed in the shooting incident, his cousin lost his life. The complaint stated:
“Evidence indicates that Banks orchestrated T.B.’s murder and that the hired killers used Banks and OTF-related funds to carry out the act.”
Akil Davis, the Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI Los Angeles Field Office, released a statement saying:
“Nothing can justify such a violent act; let me clarify: even if you think you are living your life without consequences, the FBI is meticulously piecing together evidence that will lead to your downfall.”
As it stands, Lil Durk is facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire related to the death of 24-year-old Saviay’a Robinson, as confirmed by an FBI affidavit. Alongside him, five associates from OTF—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—have also been arrested and charged.
