“I would like to have a title shot again” – Nong-O not fixated on Jonathan Haggerty on his quest back to contention
Nong-O Hama, a former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion, is confident that he will one day regain the throne he lost to Jonathan Haggerty.
After experiencing consecutive disheartening losses, the Thai legend realizes that he must regain his winning streak in order to earn a spot back in contention.
It is clear to Nong-O that the process will be lengthy, and there is also no assurance that ‘The General’ will remain the champion by the time he regains his position as the top contender.
Despite his age, the 37-year-old remains focused on one goal: reclaiming 26 pounds of gold. Any opportunity to avenge his prior loss to Haggerty would simply be an added bonus.
In a recent interview with Sportsmanor, Nong-O provided an explanation.
“I do not set my mind on Jonathan Haggerty. I would think one day, in the future, I would like to have a title shot again, no matter [who the champion is.”

Nong-O’s journey towards redemption will commence at ONE Friday Fights 58: Superbon vs. Grigorian II on April 5th.
The Evolve MMA fighter is determined to maintain his second place ranking in the bantamweight Muay Thai division, as he prepares to take on the formidable Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai in a crucial three-round battle.
Make sure not to overlook the incredible battle at Lumpinee Stadium, which will be available for free on ONE Championship’s digital platforms.
Nong-O Hama Prepared to Give His All Against Kulabdam
After suffering two shocking knockout defeats to Haggerty and Nico Carrillo in his previous two fights, doubts began to arise about Nong-O’s abilities.
Despite facing criticism, the Thai icon is determined to put an end to Kulabdam’s impressive winning streak and prove his doubters wrong. Additionally, Nong-O is excited to go up against another Thai knockout specialist who will bring an intense fight from beginning to end.
In the interview, Nong-O expressed his enthusiasm for exchanging punches with ‘Left Meteorite’.
“I’m excited as usual because for this fight I’ll be facing a fellow Thai fighter. It has been three years since I’ve faced a Thai. So I’m excited and pumped. I’m focused on getting the win no matter what.”
