“I would do it again” – CM Punk says he has “zero regrets” about UFC run
CM Punk recently revealed information about his time competing in the UFC. He had a short stint with the organization, only participating in two fights at the age of 45.
In 2014, Punk departed from the WWE and joined the world’s largest mixed martial arts organization. However, his debut inside the octagon did not occur until 2016.
Despite his high hopes, Punk’s debut bout did not go according to plan. At UFC 203, he entered the octagon for the first time to face Mickey Gall. Unfortunately, the fight ended abruptly in the first round as Punk was defeated by a rear-naked choke submission.
In 2018, after some time had passed, Punk returned to the octagon to face off against Mike Jackson at UFC 225. Unfortunately, he once again suffered a loss, this time via unanimous decision. However, the outcome was ultimately changed to a no contest after ‘The Truth’ tested positive for marijuana.
During a recent interview on The MMA Hour, Punk chatted with Ariel Helwani and shared his satisfaction with his experience in the UFC. He expressed, “I am content with my time in the UFC.”
”I’m glad I did it. Zero regrets, I shouldn’t have fought in Chicago because the worst two weeks of my life. I couldn’t weigh properly, I’m proud of myself for that.”
Punk stated:
”It’s easy to lol, make fun of me, and some people look at me and be like, oh embarrassing. I f**king made the weight, I made the walk, I 100% proud of myself and I would do it again.”

Despite his recent UFC debut, Punk has been under fire for his payout. In a YouTube video, former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson condemned Punk for receiving a bonus on top of his regular paycheck for the fight.
He made a statement:
“Let’s look at CM Punk. This guy comes in and gets a base salary of $500,000. There were also potential pay-per-view bonuses and other financial incentives included in his contract. I had to defend the f**king belt [11] times and I couldn’t even get this.”

Joe Rogan’s Criticism of CM Punk’s Abilities
During the 31st edition of The Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan openly discussed his opinions on CM Punk’s career as a mixed martial artist.
The UFC commentator asserted that Punk was not gifted with athletic ability, noting that his movements and kicks appeared stiff and unnatural during his fight with Mike Jackson.
According to Rogan:
“He is a very nice guy and a hard worker, but he does not have athletic talent.”
Despite his criticism, Rogan acknowledged that with several weeks of training, track and field athletes could potentially surpass him in fighting skills.
“There is a lot of guys you could take out there that are track and field guys or football players, and you could get them to fight better than him in a couple of weeks.”
