Gene Deal, who previously served as the security head for Sean “Diddy” Combs, recently engaged in a discussion with The Art of Dialogue, revealing insights into his relationship with the late rapper The Notorious B.I.G.’s mother, Voletta Wallace, and her support for his revelations about Diddy.
In an episode aired on October 20, a recorded conversation featuring Ms. Wallace was shared, where she encouraged Gene by saying, “You do what you gotta do.” She expressed awareness of his candid remarks regarding her son during the controversies surrounding Diddy’s current legal challenges.
Gene elaborated on his long-standing connection with Biggie’s mother, first meeting her in 1997 to discuss the tragic news of her son’s death.
“I witnessed her profound love and immense loss as a mother; spending that emotional time with her is a moment I will never forget,” Gene Deal reflected.
For context, The Notorious B.I.G. tragically lost his life in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March 1997, at the young age of 24.
Gene Deal’s Insights on Biggie’s Death and Diddy’s Alleged Involvement
Gene Deal communicated with Voletta Wallace to apologize for his public discourse on Biggie’s ties to the now-controversial figure, Diddy. He assured her that if she preferred him to “stop,” he would comply, to which Ms. Wallace replied affirmatively, stating it was acceptable for him to share his truth.
The conversation, featured during a collaborative episode of The Paperwork Party (Season 6) and The Gene Deal Show, was described by Gene as “exhilarating,” highlighting it as a significant moment in his ongoing revelations about Diddy, who is currently under federal investigation.
“Since 1997, when I first met Ms. Wallace… Holding her hand while detailing her son’s fate was one of the most emotionally intense experiences of my life, as I recounted his final moments,” Deal explained.
Gene noted that until he broke the devastating news to Ms. Wallace, they had not established a personal relationship, even though he had been one of those she entrusted with Biggie’s safety. He mentioned that his fraternity brother, Bill Willard, had accompanied Biggie’s mother that fateful night and reached out to him afterward.
As the individual who conveyed the heartbreaking news, Gene was also by her side during her son’s memorial, witnessing firsthand the depth of her love and loss. He emphasized his desire never to experience such pain and his hope that others would also remain untouched by it.
“Ms. Wallace possesses incredible strength… She has this down-to-earth approach and is all business. I felt hurt knowing that Diddy’s associates surrounded her, making it difficult for us to connect personally,” he shared.
Deal recounted that the only time he reached out to Ms. Wallace post-1997 was when one of her lawyers, Perry Sanders, sought his assistance. He expressed concern that Ms. Wallace was often surrounded by Diddy’s entourage, who had their own interests in the estate left by The Notorious B.I.G.
Furthermore, Deal mentioned that Biggie’s estate manager, Wayne Barrows, and close associate, Mark Pitts, appeared to condone Diddy’s influence. He clarified that he was not able to speak openly with Ms. Wallace until she recently granted him permission regarding Biggie.
In addition, Deal remarked that the mother of Anthony “Wolf” Jones, Diddy’s late confidant and bodyguard, similarly authorized him to speak freely, drawing a parallel with his recent conversations with Biggie’s mother.
Ms. Wallace’s Strong Feelings Towards Diddy
Earlier this year, CNN aired previously unreleased surveillance footage showing Diddy physically assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie in a hotel, dating back to 2016. In response to the shocking video, Biggie’s mother expressed her disgust in a late May 2024 interview with Rolling Stone.
“I’m appalled. My prayers are with Cassie, and with his mother. I can’t accept what I’ve heard, but that video is hard to overlook. I hope he finds it in himself to apologize to her,” she stated.
Continuing, she added:
“If I ever see Sean again, I’ll have to slap the daylights out of him. You can quote me on that. I once held him in high regard and wanted to believe the best, but I feel ashamed and embarrassed now.”
Ms. Wallace concluded by stating that Diddy should also seek forgiveness from his own mother for his actions, hoping that he would confide in her about his wrongdoings.
For context, Biggie succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on March 9, 1997, in Los Angeles, shortly after leaving a party hosted by Diddy’s Vibe Magazine. He was shot while seated in the front passenger seat of his GMC SUV after another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. After being rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, he was pronounced dead that evening.
The case remains unsolved, with lingering theories suggesting that Biggie’s murder was retaliation for the earlier killing of Tupac Shakur in 1996, rooted in their long-standing rivalry.
