“I will not forgive myself” – Cautious Regian Eersel won’t allow one costly technical error to end his dominant reign

Regian Eersel, who is a world champion in both lightweight Muay Thai and kickboxing, has consistently utilized a meticulous strategy in his fights.

‘The Immortal’ has maintained a flawless record of 10 wins in the world’s largest martial arts organization, a feat he attributes to his meticulous focus on even the tiniest details.

Ultimately, these seemingly minor and unimportant things could potentially blur the distinction between victory and defeat.

During a recent interview with ONE Championship, Eersel discussed the perfectionist attitude that has helped him stand out from his competitors.

The Surinamese superstar acknowledged that he would graciously accept defeat if he were to ever encounter a competitor who surpasses him in the ONE ring. Nevertheless, the 31-year-old confessed that he would hold himself accountable if he were to fall short due to his own mistake of letting his guard down.

The dual-sport ONE world champion revealed:

“If the opponent is better than me, then he has my respect. But if the mistake is on my side like I dropped my left hand or I hesitated because I wanted to do something, I will not forgive myself. That’s why it’s important to have people that you trust in your corner.”

This Friday, Regian Eersel will continue his journey towards perfection as he defends his lightweight kickboxing title against Alexis Nicolas at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

ONE Fight Night 21 will be broadcasted live on April 5 during US primetime, at no additional cost for current subscribers of Prime Video in the United States and Canada.

Regian Eersel’s Challenge: Show No Fear in Your Eyes Against Alexis Nicolas

One of the main factors contributing to Regian Eersel’s worldwide achievements is his skill in evaluating his opponents prior to engaging in physical combat.

According to ‘The Immortal’, he possesses the uncanny ability to accurately assess someone’s character and detect any signs of fear or vulnerability just by looking at them. In the same interview with ONE, the Sitydotong Amsterdam affiliate confirmed this claim.

“I will notice in the fight, and even before the fight. Because sometimes you see it in the eyes, the hesitation. So, I’m going to recognize it if he has it.”
