“I was a bartender”: Luka Doncic hilariously reveals origins of insane underhanded shot

The Houston Rockets’ scouting report for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks undoubtedly had Luka Doncic as their top priority. As the NBA’s two hottest teams faced off, it was clear that “Luka Legend”was the most highly regarded player on the court. His presence commanded the attention of Houston’s defense, who closely watched his every move.

Right from the start, Doncic silenced any concerns from the unfriendly crowd. He scored 32 points in the first half, leading his team to a dominant lead that they would hold onto for the rest of the game. Despite Ime Udoka’s well-constructed defensive strategies, the Slovenian superstar had an answer for each one of them.

After the first half, the Houston Rockets gathered themselves and focused on narrowing the Dallas Mavericks’ 66-45 halftime lead. In the beginning of the third quarter, they successfully prevented Luka Doncic from receiving the ball and pressured him into taking difficult shots. However, their strategy was short-lived as Doncic managed to sink a scoop shot just within the three-point line, dealing a demoralizing blow to the Rockets.

After the game ended, he was questioned about the highlight reel that even the unfriendly audience reluctantly rose to acknowledge.

“Wasn’t surprised, you know when I was young I was bartending so I’m used to that.”

Despite initially maintaining a straight face, Luka Doncic eventually succumbed to a mischievous laugh. Although Jabari Smith Jr. put up a strong defense against him, Luka’s reputation as “Luka Legend”only continued to grow as he effortlessly sank shot after shot. The Houston players returned to their positions, shaking their heads in disbelief at Luka’s impressive skills.

Despite not being a bartender, Doncic had no reason to attempt that difficult shot. If the game had been close, he may have refrained from trying such a daring move. However, with the Mavericks comfortably leading 70-47, he decided to test his skills with a trick shot, which he successfully achieved.

Luka Doncic Leads the Dallas Mavericks to the Top of the NBA

Despite starting March with three consecutive losses, the Dallas Mavericks have bounced back with an impressive record of 11-1 ever since, with their only defeat occurring while Luka Doncic was out of the lineup. Their performance during this stretch has been outstanding, with the team ranking fourth in both offensive rating (119.5) and defensive rating (107.1) in the NBA. Their impressive net rating of 12.4, which is the second-best in the league, highlights the fact that the Mavericks are a well-rounded team, not solely reliant on Doncic’s flashy plays.

In the previous season, the Mavericks abandoned their pursuit of the play-in tournament due to their lackluster defense. However, in the 2023-24 season, the team led by Doncic has been dominating their opponents and consistently securing victories. As a result, Dallas may have the most impressive finish out of all the teams competing for playoff spots.

With their victory against Houston on Sunday, the Mavericks have inched closer to the LA Clippers for fourth place in the Western Conference. With only eight games remaining, they will continue to strive towards this goal, fueled by Luka Doncic’s impressive MVP-worthy performance this season.
