“I want to live this dream” – Kickboxing great Marat Grigorian ready to claim elusive ONE Championship gold
Marat Grigorian, who currently holds the second spot in the ONE featherweight kickboxing rankings, is confident that the third attempt will be successful in his pursuit for the 26-pound championship belt in the world’s biggest martial arts federation.
On Friday, April 5, the proud Armenian warrior will once again face his familiar opponent Superbon Singha Mawynn in the main event of ONE Friday Fights 58.
Despite facing two defeats in world title fights with the ONE organization, Grigorian remains determined to emerge victorious and claim the interim featherweight kickboxing world championship at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.
During an interview with Sportsmanor, Marat Grigorian emphasized the importance of achieving the title of world champion in the birthplace of martial arts.
“It’s just a dream that I want to make a reality. I want to live this dream. It means everything for me.”
Despite being a three-time GLORY lightweight world champion, the 32-year-old has yet to claim the ONE strap.
The renowned fighter from Hemmers Gym previously faced former champion Superbon at ONE X in 2022, but unfortunately did not come out victorious after five rounds. However, he was granted another opportunity to challenge the current division champion, Chingiz Allazov, at ONE Fight Night 13 last year.
Despite putting in another strong performance, Marat Grigorian was unable to claim the title as he ultimately fell short on the scorecards.

Marat Grigorian relying on his mental strength to secure victory
Despite having been involved in numerous wars over the years, Grigorian is confident that his body is still at its peak. However, he does acknowledge that his mental game was not up to par in his recent bout against Superbon.
Despite entering this trilogy, his mindset remains bulletproof and his belief in his abilities remains unwavering. Grigorian stated to Sportsmanor:
“My body is ready, but [the only thing left] is to prepare for the mind, you know, in your head. On this level, it’s very important to get ready in your mind and your body. My body is very strong but I just need to be focused [in] my mindset, because mindset is more important on this level.”
