Upcoming Horror Game Delayed: A Spooky Update for Fans
As Halloween approaches, gamers often seek thrilling experiences to amplify the eerie atmosphere. This year, among the options for horror enthusiasts are both recent titles like Cronos: The New Dawn and Silent Hill f, alongside classics such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Dead Space, and Alien: Isolation. However, one highly anticipated game—Broken Mirror Games’ upcoming isometric horror adventure—will not be arriving this Halloween, as it misses its intended November 7, 2025 release.
Recent developments reveal a new story trailer has been unveiled, showcasing the spooky atmospherics of the game—quite fitting for the spooky season. Unfortunately, the trailer concludes with the announcement that the game’s release has been pushed back. It will now be available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch, on January 29, 2026.
In a statement shared on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, Broken Mirror Games explained the rationale behind the delay.“We decided that we need a little more time to better incorporate some changes and features gathered from community feedback. We feel the game deserves to make a good first impression, so we rethought things and set the new release window to January 2026. Thanks for your patience and understanding.”
About the Game
This eagerly awaited title, rooted in a comic book narrative by writer Kyle Starks and artist Artyom Topilin, immerses players in an 80s-themed universe filled with supernatural challenges. Initially introduced in a March 2025 showcase, the game had generated buzz among fans, who were hoping for a release by year’s end.
What’s Next?
With its rescheduled release date, it’s conceivable that by the time Halloween rolls around in 2026, players could grab I Hate This Place during seasonal discounts, providing the perfect opportunity for those who missed the initial release. In the interim, eager players can check out a demo currently available on PC, which was highlighted during the latest Steam Next Fest.
