“I deserve 5 stars for getting you to hotel safely” – Caroline Wozniacki & Daria Kasatkina banter after Dane ‘gets lost’ while driving in Charleston
Caroline Wozniacki has recently taken on the role of a five-star chauffeur for her colleague Daria Kasatkina, in preparation for their participation in the 2024 Charleston Open.
Despite Kasatkina humorously calling her the “lost driver,”Wozniacki playfully requested a five-star rating for her navigation abilities, as she not only safely transported them to the hotel but also gave them a sightseeing tour.
The Miami Open campaign of both players recently came to an end. The Russian, who was seeded 10th, received a first-round bye. She then received a walkover from Claire Liu in the second round before her run ended in the third round, where she was defeated 7-5, 6-2 by 19th seed Sorana Cirstea.
Despite also being given a wildcard for the tournament, Wozniacki was joined by players like Emma Raducanu and Venus Williams. She was able to defeat Clara Burel 6-1, 6-4, but ultimately lost a close match against 32nd seed Anhelina Kalinina with scores of 7-5, 5-7, 4-6.
On Friday, March 29, Daria Kasatkina posted a photo on Instagram featuring Caroline Wozniacki behind the wheel of a Volvo, using her phone to navigate, while Kasatkina relaxed in the backseat.
“Our driver got lost,”Kasatkina humorously captioned the picture, referring to Wozniacki’s navigation skills.
Despite the joke, Wozniacki took it in stride and proceeded to share Kasatkina’s story, responding:
“I think I deserve 5 stars for getting you to the hotel safely AND a sightseeing tour 😜.”
At the 2019 China Open quarterfinals, Wozniacki defeated Kasatkina with a score of 6-3, 7-6(5), bringing their head-to-head record to 3-2 in favor of Kasatkina. This was their most recent meeting.
