“I couldn’t sleep that night” – Superbon reveals what went wrong in the lead-up to world title defeat to Chingiz Allazov

A victory at ONE Friday Fights 58 would check off several important accomplishments for Superbon Singha Mawynn in his ONE Championship journey.

The ex-champion is scheduled to participate in the main event on April 5, where they will battle for the interim featherweight kickboxing world championship.

In addition to having the chance to complete his trilogy with Marat Grigorian by defeating him for a second time, a victory would also guarantee another rematch that he is eager to pursue.

At ONE Fight Night 6, Chingiz Allazov was able to defeat the Thai striker, causing him to lose both his world championship title and his ranking as the pound for pound number one fighter.

Winning the interim title would undoubtedly lead to a rematch and potential unification with Allazov, allowing him to pursue his desire for revenge.

Superbon stated in a recent interview with MMA India that during fight week in January 2023, he faced some challenges that prevented him from performing at his peak.

“That defeat was my mistake. I did many things there that night. I was thinking a lot about it and then I couldn’t sleep that night. But right now, I’m okay. I’m seeing what the future will bring. I think I can still do better in that fight, I struggled on the mental side but not the techniques.”

The Key to Superbon’s Success

Despite having already experienced the taste of victory and being recognized as the top contender in the world, Superbon has also gained valuable lessons following the loss of his title.

The ex-champion understands the necessary actions he must take in order to emerge victorious against Grigorian on April 5, as well as the necessary steps to rectify the errors he made in his previous match against Allazov.

Clearly, implementing all of that will be a challenging task, but the journey towards reclaiming the top spot begins with his return to Lumpinee.

A victory against Grigorian will pave the way for a major matchup between him and Allazov later this year, which is precisely the path that Superbon is aiming to follow.

The 58th edition of Friday Fights will be broadcast live during Asian prime time through global PPV on watch.onefc.com.
