The current season of the iconic reality series, Big Brother, is nearing its conclusion with only three contestants left vying for the grand prize of $750,000. During the episode aired on Thursday, October 10, Rubina Bernabe was the most recent individual to exit the game after failing to secure victories in the Head of Household and Power of Veto challenges.
Throughout her time on the show, Rubina collaborated with Makensy and Chelsie, proposing the strategy of forming a female triad to enhance their odds of survival in the competition. Ultimately, the other houseguests placed their votes between Cam and Rubina, deciding to keep Cam based on their belief that the jury would favor her over him, as Cam had not won any competitions during the season, unlike Rubina.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on October 11, Rubina shared her perspective on a hypothetical scenario where she reached the Big Brother finale and needed to convince the jury to support her victory. She recognized the challenges involved but believed her chances were favorable due to her previous alliances being part of the jury.
“If I had made it to the final two, I honestly think it would be an uphill battle given I really only won one competition. But I know I had two besties in there, so I think all it would take is convincing two more people and I might’ve won the whole thing,”reflected Rubina.
Exploring Rubina’s Journey on Big Brother 26
Rubina Bernabe, who works as an event bartender, spent 87 days in the Big Brother house. She was initially voted out but was given a second chance thanks to Kimo Apaka and T’kor Clottey, with whom she forged strong bonds. For most of her stay, she kept a low profile until she formed a close relationship with Tucker Des Lauriers, which blossomed into romantic feelings.
Tucker emerged as a dominant competitor, winning nearly all challenges he participated in, which made him a target for elimination. Other houseguests sought to remove him from the game, and Quinn attempted to weaken him by nominating Rubina for eviction; however, T’kor and Kimo intervened, solidifying their alliance of four.
As the competition progressed, Tucker chose to serve as a pawn during T’kor’s Head of Household reign. However, in a turn of events, the house guests opted to evict him, prioritizing their own gameplay as Tucker and Rubina’s budding romance became apparent.
During her conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Rubina expressed her gratitude for her time spent with Tucker, indicating her hopes of continuing their connection outside of the Big Brother environment, despite the geographical distance between them.
“As far as a future with Tucker, I’m 35. I feel lucky to have even met someone at this point who I actually truly connect with. I am kind of hoping that it goes further than just inside the house. We live on different coasts, but I think I’m willing to make it work if he’s willing to,”Rubina shared.
Rubina’s sole victory throughout the season came via the AI Arena competition. As her allies were eliminated, she persevered and made it to the final four. Ultimately, she was ousted by Makensy Manbeck despite winning the Power of Veto.
In related news, it was revealed that Taylor Hale will host the jury roundtable during the Big Brother 26 season finale. Don’t miss the next episode, set to air on October 13, 2024, on CBS.
