On October 8, 2024, ootb STUDIO shared a captivating video featuring TWICE’s Jihyo, who explored a guesthouse following her journey in Yeosu. During the episode, the group engaged in fun games, which sparked an intriguing discussion about the differences between “breaking up with a partner who has someone else”and “being ghosted.”
Jihyo quickly voiced her preference, expressing a clear inclination towards the idea of breaking up when a partner is involved with someone new rather than facing the uncertainty of being ghosted.
“I prefer breaking up if they have someone else. If I get ghosted, I might not even realize we’ve ended things.”
Jihyo Reimagines Guesthouse Reviews
The highly anticipated second season of the travel variety show Seipja (Tenant): Those Who Check Into Guesthouses Everywhere premiered on October 8, 2024, in Yeosu. Following the success of its inaugural season, TWICE’s Jihyo returned as the centerpiece host, showcasing guesthouses not just throughout South Korea but globally.
In the season’s opening episode, Jihyo discovered Yeosu in South Jeolla Province, marking her first visit to the city. Upon her arrival, viewers were introduced to the charming Jeolla dialect, thanks to a quick lesson from a taxi driver.
Sharing a birth year with the guesthouse owner, the episode radiated “MZ energy,”a term highlighting the synergy between Millennials and Gen Z. During her stay, the staff initiated vibrant discussions on relevant cultural issues, including the topic of “breaking up due to a partner’s infidelity vs. getting ghosted.”
The TWICE member promptly sided with the notion of breaking up under those circumstances. She articulated that being ghosted leads to ambiguity regarding their relationship status, while knowing a partner has moved on signifies a clear end.
Supporters of the “getting ghosted”perspective argued that it might be preferable to avoid the pain of knowing a partner has chosen someone else. A guest mentioned, “It’s less painful to be ghosted than to see your partner with someone new.”
This show has become immensely popular among the MZ generation in South Korea, known for its unique blend of both Millennials and Gen Z. Its dynamic interactions within the traveling community create a mix of uncertainty and excitement.
Season one set a strong foundation, as Jihyo traveled across various guesthouses in locations like Jeju, Busan, Sokcho, and Fukui in Japan.
