“I am at home everywhere I go”: Kevin Durant shrugs off OKC fans’ boos after blowout loss
Despite no longer being a member of the team, Kevin Durant faced his former organization as he played in Oklahoma. On Friday, the Phoenix Suns faced off against the OKC Thunder and suffered a significant defeat on the Thunder’s home court. Before the game began, Durant was greeted with a chorus of boos from OKC fans as his name was announced by the announcer.
A video of Thunder fans booing Kevin Durant out of the building was reposted by a fan on social media. Despite his reputation for being overly involved on social media, Durant replied to the tweet and brushed off the unfavorable reaction.
On Twitter, “KD”offered a response to the fan’s video, stating the following:
“I’m at home everywhere I go.”
Despite being the Oklahoma City Thunder’s star player since his rookie season, Kevin Durant’s departure in 2016 left a bitter feeling among the team’s fans. After losing to the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 playoffs, Durant made the decision to join the team in pursuit of his championship dreams, which disappointed many in Oklahoma.
Despite winning two championships with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018, KD’s decision was met with criticism from fans and analysts who saw it as a sign of weakness. Many were disappointed that he had joined the same team that had previously defeated him, forming a superteam. As a result, his title wins were never fully recognized or appreciated.
Thunder outlast Suns as Kevin Durant’s 26 points fall short in high-scoring matchup
Despite a recent 128-103 defeat against the OKC Thunder (51-22), the Phoenix Suns (43-31) remain determined as they enter the final stretch of their season. With only eight games left, the Suns are under pressure and closely competing for a spot in the upcoming NBA Play-In Tournament. Currently holding the seventh spot in the Western Conference, Phoenix risks slipping down the rankings if they cannot turn their losses around.
Despite Kevin Durant’s impressive 26-point performance, the Thunder’s lack of enthusiasm on Friday resulted in a disappointing performance against the Suns. Durant’s teammates Bradley Beal and Devin Booker were unable to match his energy on offense, with Beal contributing only 15 points and Booker adding 14. Durant attempted to carry his team to victory with six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block, but it was not enough to overcome the Suns’ underwhelming performance.
Despite Grayson Allen’s impressive performance with 13 points and nine rebounds, he was the only other Suns player to score in double figures. In contrast, the OKC team capitalized on Phoenix’s lackluster performance with seven of their players scoring in double digits, led by Josh Giddey with 23 points and Chet Holmgren with 20 points.
