“I always want to be number one” – Jonathan Di Bella on his competitive nature ahead of all-champ war vs. Prajanchai
For Jonathan Di Bella, the current strawweight kickboxing world champion, having the right mindset is crucial to his success as one of the greatest strikers of this era.
The talented Canadian-Italian striker will be making his third appearance on the international platform of ONE Championship at ONE Friday Fights 58 on April 5th. On this night, he will be going up against the reigning Muay Thai champion Prajanchai PK Saenchai for the division title, representing Team Di Bella Kickboxing.
As he remains undefeated in his career with a record of 12-0, there is great curiosity surrounding Jonathan Di Bella’s preparation for each of his fights.
In a recent interview with the South China Morning Post, the Montreal native discussed his mindset before every fight, which he acknowledges has been a constant aspect since the start of his career.
The 27-year-old stated:
“Yeah [the fight game], it’s always mental. It’s always like, I always want to be first. I always want to be number one, you know. That’s why I signed up for this. That’s why I signed up in ONE because I wanted to be the best, and like all the best fighters are in ONE, and I always want to be number one.”

Despite this, he retains his intense determination to conquer another top-notch opponent as he enters the renowned Lumpinee Boxing Stadium for his second match in Bangkok, Thailand.
So far, the current strawweight kickboxing champion has achieved victories against both ‘Mini T’ Danial Williams and ‘Fighting Rooster’ Zhang Peimian. His goal is to continue his winning streak by facing Prajanchai in the co-main event of ONE Friday Fights 58.
Jonathan Di Bella Aims to Elevate His Career with Victory Over Prajanchai
Despite being considered one of the top kickboxers in the world, Jonathan Di Bella still has challenges to face before he can solidify his position as a star in the division. The current divisional champion believes there are still levels he must surpass in order to reach the pinnacle of the sport.
Furthermore, he perceives his upcoming five-round world title match against Prajanchai as a further progression towards achieving his ultimate career objective.
During the same interview, he came to the conclusion:
“[Beating Prajanchai] would mean a lot to me. It would show that I’m for real and I’m next level.”
