“I Aim to Safeguard the Joy of Every Child” – Stray Kids’ Felix as UNICEF Korea Committee Goodwill Ambassador

On Monday, September 23, Stray Kids member Felix was officially announced as the new goodwill ambassador for UNICEF Korea by committee chairman Jeong Gap-young. Felix has been recognized for his previous contributions to children’s welfare and his positive influence on youth.

The committee acknowledged Felix’s generous donation of 150 million KRW aimed at enhancing children’s nutrition and his volunteering efforts in Laos as reasons for his appointment. As the UNICEF Korea goodwill ambassador, he will uphold the organization’s values by engaging in various activities designed to support children globally.

Felix aims to create a positive impact through his actions as part of the UNICEF committee. According to a report by Chosun Biz on September 23, during the appointment ceremony, Felix expressed his thoughts on this significant role, stating:

“I decided to become a UNICEF Korea Goodwill Ambassador because I want to protect the pure happiness of all children. I am grateful for the love I have received from my fans, and with this love, I want to do my best to convey love to children.”

UNICEF Korea Secretary General Discusses Felix’s Role as Goodwill Ambassador

On September 23, 2024, Felix, the Australian-Korean star from the K-pop group Stray Kids, was appointed as the goodwill ambassador of UNICEF Korea. UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, is dedicated to promoting children’s rights globally in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Children.

The organization supports children worldwide through various initiatives related to health, education, sanitation, emergency relief, and more.

Secretary General of UNICEF Korea, Cho Mi-jin, shared her thoughts during the appointment ceremony, stating:

“We are truly delighted and grateful to welcome Felix, who has consistently demonstrated active support and pure love for children, as our new Goodwill Ambassador.”

Cho Mi-jin emphasized Felix’s contributions toward improving children’s conditions and noted that he has become an inspiration for many due to his influence. She added:

“Felix’s sincere actions in embodying the value of sharing have served as a role model for many, and we eagerly anticipate the positive impact he will make as a UNICEF Korea Goodwill Ambassador in the future. We ask for your continued support for him as a strong advocate for children worldwide.”

Felix’s 100 Million KRW Donation on His 24th Birthday

To commemorate his 24th birthday, Felix donated 100 million KRW (approximately 75,200 USD) to assist children in need. Felix celebrated his 24th birthday on September 15, 2024. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the donation was confirmed by JYP Entertainment on September 20.

The 100 million KRW donation was divided between two organizations: 50 million KRW was allocated to UNICEF Korea and the other 50 million KRW to World Vision. The funds are intended to provide food assistance to children in South Korea and Laos.

Felix has been recognized as a member of the Bob Pierce Honors Club by World Vision, an honor reserved for donors who contribute over 100 million KRW. In January 2024, he also donated 100 million KRW to UNICEF, earning him the title of the youngest member of the UNICEF Honors Club.

In related news, Felix is currently participating in the DominATE World Tour with his Stray Kids group. The next performance will take place at Singapore’s National Stadium on September 28 as part of their tour.
