Hyper Light Breaker: Comprehensive Healing Guide and Tips for Acquiring More Medkits

Hyper Light Breaker presents a formidable challenge, often leading players to experience numerous cycles of defeat before grasping the strategies necessary for success. To maintain your gameplay momentum, it’s crucial to familiarize yourself with the myriad healing options available, including the essential Medkit, which is not immediately accessible upon starting the game.

Even before you acquire the Medkit, various healing methods are at your disposal in Hyper Light Breaker, some of which can significantly impact your survival.

Healing in Hyper Light Breaker is facilitated through several methods, each with unique characteristics. For instance, certain Holos can rejuvenate recoverable red HP, while MediGems specifically replenish your standard HP. Additionally, some interactions—such as picking up Prisms or initiating the Extraction process—can also restore health.

  • MediGems: A collectible flower found in the Overgrowth that restores 5 HP.
  • Medkit: Activated via the D-Pad, providing a substantial 75 HP recovery.
  • Enemy Drops: Small green spheres that can restore 5 HP each.
  • Perfect Parry: A successful parry restores a portion of Red HP.
  • Holos: Varying in effects, they can replenish both Red HP and standard HP depending on the specific Holo.
  • Prisms: Collecting these heals 50 HP immediately.
  • Extraction: Activating this event grants 50 HP recovery as well.

Moreover, healing can also be achieved by equipping armor that surpasses your current base HP. For instance, if you acquire Heavy Armor that adds +36 HP, and your current HP is below this threshold, equipping this armor will elevate your HP to the new maximum of 36. Notably, you can subsequently remove this armor and retain the HP gained.

Understanding Medkits in Hyper Light Breaker

Once unlocked, Medkits serve as your primary healing source in Hyper Light Breaker. It’s essential to note that Medkits are not initially available; players need to expand their Medkit Capacity using a Golden Ration.

Upon equipping the Medkit Capacity mod, obtaining a Medkit during your run remains uncertain. The sole method to recover Medkits, once your capacity is increased to at least one, is by collecting MediGems within the Overgrowth.

Enhancing Medkit Capacity with Golden Rations

To unlock the Medkit feature, players must acquire a Golden Ration and apply it to enhance their Mods/Skill Tree.

Interact with Pherus Bit, the Breakers’ commander, located just outside the Cursed Outpost. Navigate to the Mods/Skills interface, where you will discover several upgrades available for purchase using Golden Rations, including a specific node dedicated to increasing Medkit Capacity. The left side features upgrades for your Hoverboard.

To earn a Golden Ration, complete a full gameplay cycle and fulfil various objectives scattered throughout the map. At the conclusion of a run, engaging with Pherus Bit will reveal a progress bar reflecting your cycle accomplishments. This bar fills as you gather Prisms, defeat minibosses and primary enemies, or otherwise achieve objectives. Filling this bar results in a Golden Ration reward.

Invest your first Golden Ration to activate the Medkit upgrade. The game becomes noticeably more manageable upon unlocking Medkit usage, although Medkits are not guaranteed with every run.

Acquiring Medkits through MediGems at the Beginning and Shrines

Players can create Medkits by gathering and converting MediGems, which are collectible plants found throughout the Overgrowth. These MediGems are distinguishable by their bright whitish-yellow petals, making them easier to spot against the surrounding scenery.

Unlike some resources, MediGems persist in your inventory even after deaths and cycles. Players can convert them into Medkit uses at specified rates: start a run with the ability to convert 3 MediGems into 1 Medkit use. Additionally, any Shrine encountered in the Overgrowth allows you to exchange either 5 or 8 MediGems to refill your Medkit during your current run.

Since collecting MediGems provides a small health boost, prioritizing their collection during your gameplay is vital for sustaining your Medkit availability between deaths. Failing to gather at least 3 MediGems before dying means you will commence your next exploration of the Overgrowth without any healing options.
