In a recent interview with Famitsu, the Zenless Zone Zero development team shed light on the intriguing realm of Ether Agents within the game. They emphasized that the scarcity of these unique characters is rooted in the game’s lore, which depicts Ether as a rare element. According to the developers, attributes play a minimal role when it comes to faction representation.
Attributes and Gameplay Design
The team revealed that they prioritized common elements while designing the game’s attributes. They introduced “Ether”as a distinctive and scarce attribute tailored specifically for the Zenless Zone Zero universe. This cautious approach to handling Ether Agents has led to a limited number of these characters appearing thus far. However, the developers are committed to utilizing player feedback and analyzing game performance to determine how Ether will be further integrated into the storyline and character development.
Future of Ether Agents
When asked about the potential for factions specializing in Ether, the development team acknowledged that while more Ether Agents will be introduced in upcoming updates, character creation is not driven by attributes alone. Any perceived concentration of a specific attribute within a faction is likely coincidental.
Current Character Roster
As of now, Zenless Zone Zero features a roster of 28 playable characters, excluding Proxies. Out of these, only three characters are associated with the Ether attribute: Nicole, Zhu Yuan, and Astra. In the game’s lore, Hollows are known to generate substantial amounts of Ether, which poses a threat as they can corrupt beings and transform them into Ethereals in the absence of adequate protection. It is anticipated that the narrative significance of the Ether attribute will be explored more deeply as the story unfolds.
