How to Sync Your Arc Browser between Mac and Windows

The team at Browser Company has been diligently working on the beta version of the Arc Browser for Windows. We are excited to announce that the highly anticipated feature of syncing your Arc Browser across both Mac and Windows devices is now available. However, there are still some important elements that are currently absent.

With Arc Sync enabled, all of your Spaces, Tabs, and Folders will synchronize between devices. However, certain items such as History, passwords, extensions, Favorite tabs, and Profiles will not be included in the synchronization. While this may seem like a significant amount of information not being synced, there are plans to support these features in the future. Considering the steady pace at which features are being introduced in the Windows beta, it is highly likely that these features will be supported soon. Now, let’s explore how you can easily enable device synchronization for the Arc Browser.

Turn On Arc Sync on Mac

To ensure that your Arc browser data is accessible on Windows, you must first enable Arc sync on your Mac if you are a Mac user.

What is Arc Sync? It is the latest solution for securely syncing your Sidebar across all your devices. It has replaced the previous iCloud-based Sync on Arc for Mac. If you are currently using iCloud-based Sync on Arc for Mac, it is important to note that this feature will no longer be supported in the future. Additionally, it is currently not being maintained. Therefore, if you do not transition to the new method, you may encounter issues with syncing (or may already be experiencing them).

To activate Arc Sync on your Mac, simply follow these instructions:

  • To ensure that your Arc version is up to date, confirm that it is 1.29.0 or higher. You can verify the browser version by selecting ‘Arc’ from the menu bar and then clicking on ‘Check for Updates’.
  • Now, go to Arc > Settings from the menu bar.
  • Click ‘Turn on’ on the ‘Introducing Arc Sync’ message.

  • Going forward, you’ll have the toggle for ‘Sync Sidebar’ instead of ‘Sync Sidebar with iCloud’ which you can enable/ disable at any time. Make sure you keep this toggle enabled now.

Enabling Arc Sync on Windows

To take advantage of the sidebar sync on all your devices, enable Arc Sync on Windows.

  • First, make sure you’re updated to the latest version of Arc for Windows. Go to ‘Arc menu’ and click on ‘Check for Updates’. You should be on v0.14.1.17057 or later.
  • Now, to enable Sync, go to Arc menu > Settings. You can also use the Ctrl + , keyboard shortcut.
  • Then, enable the toggle for ‘Sidebar Sync’.
  • It’ll take some time for syncing to complete. Keep the Arc settings window on while it does.

Enabling Arc Sync for all devices allows you to synchronize your sidebar on various devices such as Mac, Windows, and the iOS app Arc Sidebar Sync. It is hoped that this feature will also be available on the Arc Search app for iPhone, bringing together the two different apps.
