How to start a village raid in the Minecraft 1.21 update?

The upcoming Minecraft 1.21 update will introduce various modifications to current features, including village raids. These raids are triggered when entering a village with the bad omen status effect. Players can choose to flee and abandon the village, or battle against the attacking villagers to defend it.

In the latest Minecraft update, version 1.21, there have been significant changes made to the way in which a village raid is initiated.

How to Initiate a Village Raid in Minecraft 1.21 update

1) Acquire a Mysterious Bottle

In the upcoming Minecraft 1.21 update, the way the bad omen status effect is obtained will be completely different. Previously, simply killing a raid captain (Pillager with an ominous banner on its back) would result in this effect, but that will no longer be the case.

Mojang Studios released a new bottle that will grant the bad omen status effect for an hour and 40 minutes. This bottle can be acquired from trial chamber vaults or by defeating a raid captain.

Exploring the underground caves in the Overworld is the way to discover the trial chambers. Upon discovery, you will encounter multiple trial spawners that summon hostile mobs. By defeating these spawners, you may obtain a trial key, which is necessary to unlock the vault blocks. These blocks have a small 18% chance of dropping an ominous bottle.

Contrarily, pillager patrolling groups are often accompanied by raid captains. These groups have the ability to appear anywhere in the Overworld, except for mushroom fields, after a world has been active for at least 100 minutes. Upon defeating a raid captain, it will release an ominous banner and a fresh ominous bottle.

2) Brave the ominous bottle and explore a mysterious village

When acquiring the foreboding bottle, imbibing it will grant the player the new negative omen status effect in the latest Minecraft 1.21 update. The level of this effect ranges from one to five, indicating the intensity of the ensuing raid.

Upon consuming the potion, you will be able to locate a nearby village and activate a new status effect known as Raid Omen. This effect serves as a timer for the impending raid. You will have 30 seconds to either make preparations for the attack or evacuate the village to avoid it. Once the Raid Omen timer runs out, the raid will commence.

It should be noted that drinking a bucket of milk is a simple way to remove all of these status effects.
