How to Reach Bloodmoon Island in Divinity: Original Sin 2

How to Reach Bloodmoon Island in Divinity: Original Sin 2

Located in the northern part of Reaper’s Coast, Bloodmoon Island presents a unique challenge for adventurers. This enigmatic island is entirely surrounded by Deathfog, which not only hides the sea but also makes conventional access impossible due to a destroyed bridge. While the island intertwines with the main narrative of Divinity: Original Sin 2 and provides valuable side quests, the game offers scant guidance on how to navigate past the Deathfog and explore Bloodmoon Island.

To aid players, this guide outlines the methods to access Bloodmoon Island and enhance your gaming journey.

Navigating with Spirit Vision

The bridge leading to Bloodmoon Island, which initially connected it to Reaper’s Coast, has been destroyed. It is found to the northeast of Cloisterwood, near Jahan and Witch Alice. Once you reach the remnants of the bridge, you can take advantage of the Driftwood Fields waypoint.

To successfully traverse the broken bridge, you should cast Spirit Vision to uncover the intact segments. Some parts of the bridge are perilous, necessitating careful navigation. Here are some tools and skills that can facilitate your crossing:

  1. Gloves of Teleportation: Obtainable early in the game, these gloves allow teleportation without prior learning. Though time-consuming, you can use them to teleport each party member across.
  2. Translocation Skills: Skills such as Pheonix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, making them invaluable for crossing the bridge. However, not all characters may possess these abilities.
  3. Teleporter Pyramids: Four Teleporter Pyramids exist in the game. You’ll need two to facilitate your crossing. One pyramid should be assigned to a character who can cross first, transporting the others once they reach the destination.
  4. Fast Travel: If a companion successfully crosses using translocation abilities, they can activate the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, allowing all other party members to fast travel to it without needing to navigate the broken bridge.

Crossing the Deathfog by Ferry

For players with Fane in their party, an alternative means of accessing Bloodmoon Island is available. As an undead character, Fane is immune to Deathfog, allowing him to traverse it safely. There’s a pier located northwest of Cloisterwood where an undead ferryman awaits, offering passage across the fog.

It’s worth noting that while the ferryman’s assistance appears beneficial, it’s actually a trap; all characters except Fane will perish during the crossing. If Fane chooses to take the ferry alone, he can safely reach Bloodmoon Island and activate its waypoint for others to fast travel.

Ferry Access Without Fane

In the absence of Fane, players can still utilize the ferry by leveraging the Teleporter Pyramids. Follow these steps:

  1. Unchain your party and give a Teleporter Pyramid to the companion intended to use the ferry.
  2. After the ferry ride, that companion will die on Bloodmoon Island’s shoreline.
  3. With the remaining characters chained, use the other Teleporter Pyramid to teleport to the fallen companion.
  4. Revive the companion using a resurrection spell or scroll to reintegrate them into your team.

If Fane is unavailable, the safest and most efficient route to Bloodmoon Island is via the bridge.

Exercise caution when dealing with the Undead Ferryman. If attacked, he retaliates with a deadly Deathfog spell. Should you wish to engage him, ensure you create a quick save prior to confrontation. Successfully defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
