More Information About BTS’ Jungkook’s Solo Album, GOLDEN
Jeon Jungkook of BTS released his first solo album, GOLDEN, on November 3, 2023. This English-language album features 11 tracks co-written and co-produced by notable Western artists including Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, DJ Snake, Andrew Watts, Jon Bellion, Cirkut, among others.
Upon its release, GOLDEN sold over two million copies on Hanteo, marking Jungkook as the first Korean solo artist to achieve this impressive milestone in chart history. Additionally, eight out of the 11 tracks from the album reached the Top 10 on the US iTunes chart, setting another record for a Korean solo artist’s performance on the platform.
Notably, three singles from the album—SEVEN (feat. Latto), 3D (feat. Jack Harlow), and Standing Next To You—topped the Billboard Global 200 chart. Jungkook made history as the first Korean solo artist to have three songs from a single album hit No.1 on the American music chart, and he was also the first Asian performer to place 10 songs from the same album on the Billboard Global 200.
It’s important to note that the tracks achieved their high rankings at different times: SEVEN (feat. Latto) in September, 3D (feat. Jack Harlow) in October, and Standing Next To You in November 2023. For context, SEVEN was released in July 2023, and 3D followed in September 2023; both singles were later included in the GOLDEN album.
Additionally, SEVEN (feat. Latto) made a remarkable debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in July 2023 and held that position for seven consecutive weeks. Jungkook thus became the first K-pop solo artist to achieve this significant milestone on the Hot 100 chart.
In related news, BTS’ Jungkook began his mandatory military service in South Korea on December 12, 2023, and is expected to return in June 2025 to continue group activities.
