How to Pin Messages in WhatsApp

Ever since its launch, Whatsapp, which is owned by Meta, has remained one of the most popular messaging apps. This is due to a variety of factors, such as its secure messaging capabilities, availability on various platforms, and frequent addition of new features that enhance the user’s experience.

Recently, a new feature was announced which allows users to pin multiple messages. This upgrade enables users to pin up to three messages in a chat for easy access. Previously, you were only able to pin one message while chatting with others or in a group. The banner will now display the number of pinned messages in the chat. This feature is currently being rolled out and may take a few days before it is available to all users.

Pinning messages on WhatsApp is a simple process that can be done in various ways. This feature allows you to prioritize certain types of messages, such as polls, images, and text messages, making it easier for you to access them from the top of your chat list.

To pin messages in a WhatsApp chat, simply follow these steps:

• Launch WhatsApp on your device and tap on the name of the person/ group whose messages you want to pin to open the chat.
• Tap and hold the message you want to pin to select it.
• Then, tap on the three dots on the right side to access additional options.

• Afterward, select the ‘Pin’ option to pin the message.
• When you choose to pin a message, Whatsapp will provide you with the option to select the duration for which the message will stay pinned. Simply tap on your desired time frame in the pop-up that appears; you can choose to pin a message for 24 hours, seven days, or 30 days.
• Finally, tap on the ‘Pin’ option again to pin the message.

• You will see the pinned message at the top, and the message “You pinned a message”will appear at the bottom of the chat, which will also be visible to the other person (or persons in a group chat).
• To navigate to the message in the chat, tap on the message in the banner. Alternatively, you can tap and hold the message to access the option to ‘Unpin’ it.

Likewise, with the new update, you have the ability to pin up to two additional messages in a chat.

Having the ability to pin your Whatsapp messages enables you to quickly access important texts, images, or videos. Pinning and unpinning messages is a simple process that only takes a few seconds, allowing you to easily prioritize which messages remain at the top based on their relevance.

If you wish to store a message permanently, you can choose to star it. Unlike pinned messages, which are only kept at the top for a maximum of 30 days, starred messages are saved permanently.
