Having successfully captured and delivered both a Tracktail Lizard and an Ember Rufflizard to Dareel in Monster Hunter Wilds, your next objective awaits. Dareel now asks you to track down the elusive Gillopod, a slick, camouflaged creature that can easily blend into its surroundings.
Due to their remarkable ability to merge with rocks and walls, GilloPods can easily be overlooked. To assist you in completing Dareel’s Research Report, let’s explore where to find a Gillopod in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Locating the Gillopod in Monster Hunter Wilds
Gillopods, distinguishable from the similarly shaped purple Pillopods, inhabit the Wyveria region in Monster Hunter Wilds. These flat, blue arthropods thrive on walls in areas with ‘high energy’, which is why you’ll typically find them in the deeper parts of Wyveria, where Wylk is abundant.

The prime location for finding a Gillopod is Area 8 in Wyveria, near the Gap in Rubble Pop-Up Camp. From the Pop-Up Camp, navigate back along the narrow path and take a right. A flat wall on your right side will likely host some Gillopods and Pillopods.

Keep in mind that Gillopods may be somewhat rarer than their purple relatives, Pillopods. If you don’t spot one immediately, consider resting at your Pop-Up Camp and using Guild Points to refresh the environment, making conditions plentiful for spawning.
Eventually, you’ll encounter a Gillopod, and fortunately, these creatures do not flee easily. Take your time and use your Capture Net to secure the catch at your convenience.
Once you’ve successfully captured a Gillopod, return to Dareel at the Windward Plains Base Camp to report your findings!
