The newest weapon in Minecraft, the mace, has received a highly positive response in the latest 1.21 experimental snapshots. Its ability to deal immense damage and provide great utility has led to many enjoyable moments. The only criticism for the mace has been its inability to be enchanted.
The absence of mending and unbreaking had a severe impact on the mace, given its inherently low durability. Fortunately, the latest snapshot, 23w13a, from Mojang has addressed this issue by including old enchantments for the weapon and introducing three new exclusive mace enchantments. The following section provides information on these new enchantments and how to obtain them for a mace.
Create a magical space
To obtain mace enchantments in survival, the first step is to establish a suitable enchanting space. This will entail either obtaining or cultivating enough leather to create 15 bookshelves for level 30 enchantments. Furthermore, players will likely need a sugar cane farm to acquire the necessary paper, and a supply of lapis is necessary to utilize the enchanting table.
Assuming everything proceeds as planned, position the enchanting table and surround it with 15 bookshelves, ensuring there is a gap of one block between each one. This space is necessary for the transfer of enchanting power to the table.
Master a Minecraft challenge in a trial chamber
Now that a level 30 enchanting area has been set up in Minecraft, the next task is to gather the necessary materials for crafting a mace to enchant. This involves locating a trial chamber, but players can take advantage of the new Minecraft villager trades for trial chamber maps introduced by Mojang, making this step much simpler.
Obtaining the materials is the more challenging aspect. Players must acquire a breeze rod, only attainable by defeating the newly introduced breeze mob. To complete the crafting, a heavy core must be combined with this rod, which can sometimes be found while looting the Minecraft vault blocks also located in these trial chambers.
1) Obtaining the Density Enchantment
The Density enchantment is one of the first mace enchantments that players are likely to come across. This is because it is a frequently occurring enchantment in both the enchanting table’s selection and enchanted books. It can often be found when looting some of the most valuable structures in Minecraft, such as desert temples, strongholds, and woodland mansions.
The damage dealt by the mace per block fallen is directly affected by the density enchantment. For every level of the enchantment, the damage is increased by one per fallen block, with a maximum level of five. This results in a significant increase of 2.5 extra hearts of damage per fallen block at the highest level. This adjustment helps balance out the reduced base falling damage, which is now 1.5 hearts per fallen block.
2) Acquiring the Breach Enchantment
Acquiring the Breach enchantment for a new Minecraft mace will prove to be more challenging compared to obtaining the Density Enchantment. This is due to the rarity of Breach as opposed to its more common counterpart. However, players can still obtain it through the enchanting table or by finding enchanted books. This allows for the possibility of resetting trades with librarians or repeatedly enchanting books until Breach appears naturally.
Breach has a total of four levels, therefore it is important for players to be vigilant and aware of the higher levels. This enchantment has the ability to enhance the mace’s damage output by weakening the effectiveness of the target’s armor. Each breach level increases this effect by 15%, resulting in a maximum level breach completely disregarding 75% of an opponent’s armor.
3) Acquiring the Wind Burst Enchantment
Obtaining the final mace-exclusive enchantment, Wind Burst, is no easy feat. Unlike the other two enchantments, it cannot be acquired through the enchanting table or trading with Minecraft villagers. Instead, it can only be obtained from an ominous vault, a variant of the regular vault that appears when a player enters a trial chamber while under the effects of bad omen.
The reason for this enchantment being exclusively obtainable through this method is clear, as it will soon rival mending and unbreaking as the top enchantments for the mace in Minecraft. With each level of the enchantment, up to a maximum of three, players are able to rebound into the air after striking an enemy while descending with the mace, with the height of the bounce increasing.
The benefit here is clear. The mace was already capable of dealing enough damage to defeat every Minecraft boss in one hit, so the addition of enchantments that increase its damage and enable chain attacks will elevate the weapon to an even greater level of strength.
