How to get and use breach enchantment in Minecraft?
With the release of the Minecraft 1.21 update, Mojang Studios unveiled three unique enchantments specifically designed for the new mace weapon. At first, the developers had opted to not include any enchantments for the mace and restricted players from using any pre-existing ones. However, players are now able to apply enchantments to the hammer-like melee weapon, such as breach.
This tutorial provides a concise overview of how to obtain and utilize the breach enchantment in Minecraft.
Obtaining the Breach Enchantment in Minecraft
While uncommon, Breach is an enchantment that can be applied to maces. It can be obtained from enchanting tables or books, and has a total of four levels of strength.
To view the enchantment options on an enchanting table, you must first create the mace. This unique hammer-shaped weapon can be crafted using breeze rods and a heavy core. Breeze mobs can drop breeze rods when defeated, and there is a 2% chance of finding a heavy core in a vault located in the trial chambers.
After acquiring the enchantment from a book, simply place it on an anvil along with the mace weapon to activate the powerup.
Using the Breach Enchantment in Minecraft
Breach enchantment, as its name implies, partially nullifies the protective effect of armor. When using a mace enchanted with breach, attacking an armored entity will bypass the armor’s defense and directly impact the entity.
With a Level 4 breach enchantment, each level reduces an armor’s protection by 15%, resulting in a total reduction of 75% in effectiveness.
This enchantment is particularly beneficial on multiplayer servers, where other players typically equip armor. However, its usefulness may be limited in a single-player world as there are not many hostile mobs that spawn with armor.
By utilizing a powerful breach enchantment, it is possible to defeat an opponent who is equipped with netherite armor by dropping from a short distance and delivering a strong critical strike with a mace.
Additional enchantments for the mace in Minecraft
Besides the breach enchantment, the new weapon also has two additional powerups: density and wind burst.
The density enchantment boosts the attack damage for every block the mace strikes, and the wind burst releases a gust of wind upon hitting an entity. This gust is comparable to a wind charge.
Besides these three additional enchantments, the mace can also be enchanted with smite, bane of arthropods, fire aspect, unbreaking, mending, and curse of vanishing.
