Pawmi has quickly become one of the standout new Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet, charming trainers with its adorable appearance and intriguing abilities. As the initial form in a three-stage evolutionary line, this electrifying rodent not only showcases cuteness but has the potential for impactful gameplay with its shock-based attacks.
Last Updated on January 31, 2025 by Renri Seong: Pawmi is categorized among the iconic “electric rodents”featured in various Pokémon generations. Different from its predecessor, Morpeko, Pawmi evolves into a dual Electric/Fighting-type Pokémon known as Pawmo. For players embarking on their journey in Scarlet and Violet, Pawmi is typically one of the first Pokémon to encounter, making it an excellent choice for early-game capture. This guide is designed to provide comprehensive information on capturing Pawmi and its evolutions, along with insights into their stats and effectiveness in battle.
Finding Pawmi in Scarlet & Violet
Pawmi Locations in Paldea

Pawmi can be found in several locations, particularly in the South Province (Areas One, Two, Three, Five) and along Poco Path. In higher-level areas, it’s not unusual to encounter a group of Pawmi gathered around its evolution, Pawmo. Players can initiate their collection of Pawmi by exploring Poco Path early in the game.
For precise navigation, refer to the trainer icon shown in the image above, which marks the exact spot to find Pawmi in Poco Path. To locate a level 4 Pawmi before encountering the legendary Pokémon Koraidon or Miraidon, follow these steps:
- Head along the path toward the lighthouse on Poco Path.
- Before reaching Inlet Grotto, take a right turn towards two palm trees perched on a cliff. Check the map; Pawmi’s location is situated between the shoreline of Inlet Grotto and Nemona’s backyard.
Once you embark on your Treasure Hunt, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in Tera Raids. Occasionally, a 1-star Tera Raid will feature a Pawmi. By defeating it, you gain a chance at capturing this creature, and these Raids typically offer Pawmi at level 12.
Evolving Pawmi into Pawmo
How to Evolve Pawmi

To facilitate the evolution of Pawmi into Pawmo, you need to reach level 18. The most efficient way to achieve this is by utilizing Exp. Candy S. If you happen to capture a Pawmi at a higher level, simply level it up once to trigger the evolution. In cases where you lack candy resources, consider utilizing Pawmi in Auto-Battles against Pokémon that are weak to its Electric-type attacks.
Ideal opponents include Flying and Water-type Pokémon, while you should avoid engaging Ground-types, which pose a significant threat to Pawmi.
Upon evolving, Pawmo adopts the Fighting-type alongside its Electric-type, allowing it to acquire new moves that benefit from the Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB).However, this new typing introduces additional vulnerabilities that didn’t affect Pawmi.
Capturing Pawmo

For those who have progressed further in their journey through Scarlet/Violet, capturing Pawmo in the wild becomes a straightforward task. Pawmo can be found across all provinces of Paldea. Typically, you will discover Pawmo accompanied by a few Pawmi, so employing the ZL-targeting feature can simplify the encounter.
Here’s where you can locate Pawmo in Scarlet/Violet:
- South Province (Areas One, Three, Four, Five)
- East Province (Areas One, Two)
- West Province (Areas One, Two, Three)
- North Province (Areas One, Three)
- Area Zero
Note: Pawmo in certain areas are considered Fixed Spawns.
Apart from the wild, Pawmo can also be found in 3-star Tera Raids once you acquire three gym badges. In these Raids, Pawmo appears at level 35 and may possess its Hidden Ability: Iron Fist, which enhances punch-based moves such as Thunder Punch and Drain Punch.
Evolving Pawmo into Pawmot
Utilizing the Let’s Go! Feature

To evolve Pawmo into Pawmot, utilize the Let’s Go! feature to allow Pawmo to walk 1000 steps. After reaching this step count, level it up once to complete the evolution process. You can call Pawmo into the overworld by pressing the ZR-button. Ensure it remains outside of its Poké Ball.
One effective method to achieve the 1000 steps is by climbing on a roof, such as that of a Pokémon Center or a nearby building. If positioned correctly, Pawmo will run against an obstacle, effectively counting the steps continuously. Once you believe you’ve approximated the required steps, simply level it up to trigger its transformation into Pawmot.
Pawmot can also be occasionally found in postgame content, specifically in 5-star and 6-star Tera Raids. The 5-star Raids unlock upon completing “The Way Home, ”while the 6-star Raids require finishing the Academy Ace Tournament.
Evaluating Pawmot
Pawmot’s Stats and Type Effectiveness

Pawmot’s dual typing as an Electric/Fighting-type Pokémon offers diverse coverage compared to its earlier forms, though this introduces more weaknesses to specific attacks. The new Fighting-type results in a loss of resistance to Flying-type moves, rendering Pawmot vulnerable to such attacks.
Pawmot features impressive base Attack and Speed stats, making Jolly (+Speed, -Special Attack) or Adamant (+Attack, -Special Attack) nature choices particularly advantageous. However, the question remains: can it maintain viability against other Electric-types in Scarlet and Violet?
HP: | 70 |
---|---|
Attack: | 115 |
Special Attack: | 70 |
Defense: | 70 |
Special Defense: | 60 |
Speed: | 105 |
Total: | 490 |
Super-effective against: | Flying, Water, Normal, Rock, Steel, Ice, Dark |
---|---|
Weaknesses: | Fairy, Psychic, Ground |
Resistances: | Electric, Bug, Rock, Dark, Steel |
Immunities: | N/A |
While Pawmot possesses lower HP, Defense, and Special Defense stats, its formidable Attack and Speed allow it to strike first in most encounters. With strategic move selection and appropriate held items, Pawmot can effectively defeat opposing Pokémon with a single strike as well.
Upon evolving, Pawmot will acquire the move Revival Blessing, which is especially beneficial as it can restore a fainted Pokémon to half its maximum HP, enhancing its role as a support Pokémon. For offensive strategies, training Pawmot to utilize physical moves or STAB-boosted attacks is crucial. Consider the following recommendations:
- Close Combat or Brick Break: Close Combat is a powerful Fighting-type move with a base power of 120, but it also sharply decreases Pawmot’s Defense and Special Defense. For a less risky option, Brick Break effectively negates the effects of Reflect and Light Screen on opponents.
- Knock Off or Crunch: Both options provide valuable coverage against Psychic-types, which pose a threat to Pawmot. Knock Off can discard an opponent’s held item, while Crunch has the chance to reduce the opponent’s Defense.
For any aspiring trainers, mastering Pawmot’s strengths and mitigating its weaknesses is essential in maximizing its utility in battles.
