However, Microsoft has decided to bring the feature back and will be rolling it out first to insiders by the end of the year and later to the general public by early next year. So, for the time being, there are a few workarounds that can be used to imitate the drag and drop files to the taskbar on Windows 11.

Method 2

The second method is also another easy way to get this feature enabled. This requires you to download an app from the Microsoft Store. So, if you do not have a Microsoft account signed in to your system, it is time you do so as the Store requires you to have a Microsoft Account to download apps and even post reviews.

  1. Open up the Microsoft Store and head over to the search box that is in the middle at the top of the screen.
  2. Type in drag and drop. Hit the enter key to search the app.
  3. From the results, you will see the first app that says Drag and Drop Toolbar for Windows 11. Click on it.

  8. Also, you will see a little tray at the top of your screen.
  9. To drag and drop files to whatever program is running, simply drag the file over to the top and hover over the panel. You can simply then drop the file over the open program and you are good to go.
