How to brew all new potions in Minecraft 1.21 update
One of the most recent major reveals for Minecraft 1.21 included the introduction of four new potions. The first one is the wind-charged potion, which causes mobs to explode into the air upon being defeated. The second is the weaving potion, which results in cobweb explosions when used on defeated mobs. The third potion, called the oozing potion, causes slain mobs to spawn slime. The final addition is the infested potion, which causes mobs to spawn silverfish.
The uniqueness and intrigue of these effects raises the question of how to brew these potions for a survival playthrough. Below, the brewing procedures for these new potions are outlined, along with instructions on where to gather the necessary ingredients.
Brewing Guide for Minecraft’s Latest Potions (1.21)
1) Acquire a brewing stand
To begin creating these fascinating new alchemical mixtures, the first step is to prepare a designated space for the brewing process. The most convenient method to obtain a brewing stand is to locate one in a village, which further solidifies why these structures are considered the finest in Minecraft.
In addition, if there are no clerics in your nearby villages, you can still create brewing stands by using a blaze rod and three blocks of any stone tier. This method may be easier since you will need to travel to the Nether to obtain blaze rods for the stand’s fuel and nether wart for the base of the awkward potion.
2) Gather necessary ingredients
To create the new potion types, players must first gather all the necessary alchemical ingredients, including blaze rods for making blaze powder. The first potion on the list is the wind-charged potion, which calls for breeze rods. These can only be found in an upcoming Minecraft trial chamber, as it is the only place where these items can be obtained.
The weaving potion, which is the next potion, can only be brewed with a cobweb. Cobwebs are often seen as insignificant items and are therefore not usually kept. They can be found in natural areas such as mineshafts, strongholds, basement igloos, abandoned villages, and in rare Minecraft woodland mansion spider spawner rooms.
The third potion in the new collection is the oozing potion, crafted using a slime block. Slime is the most difficult ingredient to obtain for these potions, as it is only obtainable through slime drops, rarely traded by wandering traders, or occasionally sneezed out by baby pandas with a 1/700 chance.
The last addition to the potion collection is the infested potion, which can only be brewed using regular stone. This means that players will need the silk touch enchantment in order to brew it. However, silk touch is a highly useful enchantment and is often considered one of the best in Minecraft, so players likely already have a tool with this enchantment or will need to obtain one regardless.
The final item required is water bottles. With four newly created potions, a minimum of four bottles will be necessary. However, considering potions are made in batches of three, it would be more practical to acquire that amount. This will enable players to brew a complete set of three of each of the new potions.
3) Create awkward potions
Now that you have a designated brewing area and all the necessary ingredients, it is time to begin the alchemy process. Begin by placing a blaze powder into the top left input slot of the brewing stand. This will serve as the fuel for the stand. Next, add a nether wart to the input slot and place three glass bottles in the top row. This will transform the ordinary water bottles into awkward potions. Continue this procedure until you have an adequate amount of awkward potions.
4) Crafting the Latest Potions in Minecraft 1.21
Once you have a base of awkward potions, the next step is to brew the desired potions. For wind charged potions, simply combine a breeze rod with the awkward potions. To create weaving potions, use a cobweb that was gathered earlier, and for oozing or infested potions, add slime or stone blocks respectively.
Moreover, the effectiveness of these potions can be enhanced by undergoing an extra brewing process. Incorporating redstone will prolong their effects, while adding glowstone will increase their potency. On the other hand, using fermented spider eyes will corrupt the potions, gunpowder will transform them into splash potions, and the ender dragon breath from Minecraft will turn them into lingering splash potions.
It is important to have some blaze powder readily available in case the brewing stand requires more fuel, which may happen if players begin upgrading and combining extra brewing layers.
