How did Sedriques Dumas fight at UFC Atlantic City despite arrest 1.5 months ago? A deep dive into domestic violence allegation and other charges

Sedriques Dumas, a UFC Middleweight fighter, recently participated in the UFC on ESPN 54 event held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 30th.

Many questions have arisen after his appearance at the event, as people wonder how ‘The Reaper’ was permitted to compete despite facing numerous ongoing legal cases.

Initially charged with felony domestic battery, Dumas was arrested on February 13. However, the charge was eventually downgraded to a misdemeanor.

The police report stated that the 28-year-old supposedly struck the mother of his child in the face and caused scratches. Additionally, one of the police officers observed a text message in which Dumas confessed to hitting the individual in question.

The 28-year-old entered a not guilty plea for the domestic charge and requested to have a jury trial for the case.

Since 2014, ‘The Reaper’ has been arrested a total of 12 times, making this not the first time Dumas has encountered legal trouble.

Prior to becoming a member of the UFC, Dumas faced allegations of assaulting a woman in Pensacola, Florida. However, as reported by ESPN, there were no arrests made in relation to this incident.

“On February 29, ‘The Reaper’ admitted to the allegations of felony possession and was subsequently placed on probation. As a result, he was required to notify his parole officer in order to participate in the UFC Atlantic City event.”

The domestic violence case will have its next hearing on April 22.

Dumas made his fourth UFC appearance on March 30, facing off against Nursulton Ruziboev in the middleweight division on the main card of UFC Atlantic City. The event’s headlining fight was a five-round flyweight bout between Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorot.

Despite high hopes, Dumas’ night ended in disappointment as he was knocked out in the first round. This defeat brings his record in the multi-billion dollar promotion to 2-2 at the age of 28.
