Guerilla Games Unveils Closed Playtest for Horizon Hunters Gathering
Guerilla Games is set to kick off its inaugural closed playtest for the newly announced co-op multiplayer game, Horizon Hunters Gathering. This marks a significant event as it coincides with another testing phase, specifically Bungie’s open server slam for Marathon, both happening this weekend. In the case of Horizon, participation will be strictly limited to those who receive an invitation, designed to prevent any overlap in player engagement.
This scheduling raises eyebrows within the gaming community, questioning Sony’s decision to conduct these events simultaneously. Nevertheless, if you’re eager to join the Horizon playtest on your PS5, you can sign up via the PlayStation Beta Program. For PC gamers, access will be available through the game’s Steam page.
It’s important to note that registering does not guarantee a spot in the playtest. Following your registration, an email will confirm whether you’ve been selected, accompanied by a code for downloading the beta on your chosen platform.

What to Expect in the Playtest
If selected for the playtest, you’ll have the opportunity to explore various gameplay features, including three unique heroes: Axle, Rem, and Sun. Players will choose one character to engage in two mission types: Machine Incursion and Cauldron Descent, set in the vibrant game area of Colorado Springs.
The official dates for this exciting event are February 27, 2026, through March 1, 2026, coinciding closely with the Marathon testing that spans from February 26 to March 2. This overlap prompts an interesting consideration for players: which playtest would you prioritize if given the chance?
