The Honor Magic V is officially the first foldable phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

The past two months have been truly exciting for the smartphone world, especially when so many foldable smartphones have happened in a short space of time.

The latest addition comes from the young company Honor, which officially unveiled its first foldable smartphone, dubbed the Honor Magic V, during a high-profile launch in the Chinese market.

Like the recent OPPO Find N, the new Honor Magic V has a foldable design that allows users to use the device as a smartphone when folded and as a tablet when fully unfolded.

Let’s start with the external display – a bright 6.45-inch OLED display with FHD + screen resolution, smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. However, the main highlight lies in its 21: 9 aspect ratio, which offers the same smartphone experience as a regular smartphone.

When fully deployed, the Honor Magic V can function as a tablet with a 7.9-inch OLED display that supports a 2272×1984 pixel screen resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It’s actually slightly larger than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3’s 7.6-inch internal display.

Apart from this, it also supports 10-bit color depth and HDR10 + content for a more realistic and immersive viewing experience, making it the perfect entertainment companion.

Moving on to the back cover, it has a rectangular camera protrusion that has three cameras. These cameras are said to include a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50-megapixel spread spectrum camera.

The impressive camera hardware is complemented by a pair of 42MP cameras on the lid and internal display that help with selfies and video calls. In short, the Honor Magic V is a model that puts a lot of emphasis on photography.

Under the hood, the Honor Magic V will be powered by an eight-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Likewise, the phone also packs a respectable 4,750mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.

On the software side, the Honor Magic V will ship with the new Magic UI 6.0 based on Android 12 OS right out of the box. Those interested can opt for the phone in three different color options such as Titanium Silver, Black and Burnt Orange.

While global pricing for the phone has yet to be announced, we know the Honor Magic V will be priced at 9,999 Yuan ($ 1,570) and 10,999 Yuan ($ 1,725), respectively, for the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB variants. …
