Overview of Upcoming Changes to Honkai: Star Rail’s Gacha System
- Significant adjustments are anticipated for the limited gacha banner’s 50/50 system in Honkai: Star Rail.
- Players may soon be able to select a pool of characters who can be won when they lose the 50/50 chance.
- The character pool could feature both limited options as well as standard characters, alongside a new shop for acquiring five-star characters.
Recent leaks concerning Honkai: Star Rail indicate an important shift in the mechanics of the limited gacha banner, potentially enhancing the player experience with a more rewarding approach to the dreaded 50/50 system. The popular sci-fi role-playing game (RPG) developed by HoYoverse has been widely recognized for its unique party system, where players typically recruit new characters through a gacha system that heavily relies on Stellar Jades. With each update, new five-star characters are introduced, requiring substantial investment from players. The upcoming changes aim to address some of the common frustrations associated with this feature.
Currently, players have a chance to pull a five-star character from a gacha banner, which prominently features one main character. However, there’s no guarantee players will receive the highlighted character due to the “50/50″system. This means that when players pull a five-star, they have only a 50% chance of obtaining the desired limited character instead of receiving a standard character—often leading to disappointment. This situation has become a running joke in the community, especially with instances of pulling less desirable options like Yanqing and Bailu. As such, the changes on the horizon may provide a significant turnaround for how 50/50 pulls are perceived.
Enhancements to the 50/50 System in Honkai: Star Rail
Amidst these developments, prominent leaker Sakura Haven has unveiled details about a potentially beneficial transformation in the gacha banner system slated for the anniversary update. According to the insider information, players will soon have the option to select a pool of up to seven specific characters for their 50/50 choices, diverging from the standard character rotation. This exciting update is set to be introduced in Version 3.2, which is expected to roll out on April 8.

This forthcoming alteration is poised to enhance the gameplay experience for both new and veteran players by incorporating limited characters into the 50/50 pool, thus facilitating the acquisition of fan-favorite units without having to wait for a re-run banner. Although the leaked details do not specify which characters will be included, it is likely that popular older limited characters like Seele, Jing Yuan, and Silver Wolf will be part of this new selection.
Additionally, the anticipation surrounding Honkai: Star Rail’s anniversary doesn’t end there. Leaks suggest the introduction of a new in-game five-star character shop designed for players who have maxed out a particular character’s Eidolons. Upon acquiring a duplicate of a maxed-out character, players may receive a unique form of currency that can be used to obtain a different five-star unit. This initiative indicates that HoYoverse is committed to providing multiple avenues for players to acquire the most coveted characters, especially as the game approaches its second anniversary.
